hawking a line of branded Mountain Goats smart glasses. no matter where you look things look a little bleaker and also the wearer cannot remove the glasses once worn. I’m disrupting this sector

Surely design tokens are one of the base ways we document design intent at a foundation level? They’re unambiguous so you’re always going to get the same result…

We're extremely passionate about making people cry (in the correct way)

Yeah, it's not great from lots of angles, but at the same time it's definitely making coding a lot easier and quicker if you know what you want to do. 🙃

Wordpress is still a solid choice if it's primarily content. Not much has changed in that space.

Another option (if you're comfortable using AI) is to use something like Claude Code to build something for you using something like Astro (which is a static side generator).

How technical are you? :) There's loooooooads of options out there, but more about what you need. Is it a blog? A static landing page?

Nothing Sounds Good — Record Club UK vinyl subscription for DIY punk, indie, emo and whatever.

Spent yesterday rebuilding nothingsoundsgood.club from a Shopify theme to Astro + the Shopify API.

I love Shopify as a payment system, but hate it as a CMS. I'm hoping that the move means I will now actually want to update the website more...

Lesson: Don't build on shit you hate.

TALK TO PEOPLE? ARE YOU MAD?

The anger and despair caused by someone else using the last of the milk, forcing you to have a black coffee.

The world is so unfair.

New review for my writing: "It’s like watching someone almost say something interesting, over and over again, while actively preventing themselves from ever quite getting there."

They will discuss why #designsystems, as we know them, need to die.

To me it's as misogynist as the word cock is misandrist. But in saying that, I'm way more here for normalising the positive use of the word... I'd be so happy to be told I was cunty 😅

Very different context because I'm an Australian living in the UK, but I've never understood the power of the word. I think it can be a powerful, awesome word, and I'd love to see it reclaimed more.

Even when it's used in negative context, I feel like the meaning denotes power and strength.

Probably sounds obvious to other people, but fuck me why didn't anyone mention it about 15 years ago!?

It makes so much sense though, because your body is involuntarily clenching particular muscles in fight or flight mode, and that's going to cause pain and stiffness. Found being aware of it has helped, as well as mindfulness exercises/breathing.

A chiropractor suggested that it might be stress and anxiety causing it. I started tracking the patterns of the pain and realised it was always when I had a big project on, hadn't slept well, or generally feeling anxious.

Do you know what I wish I had known a lot earlier? How often muscle pain is caused by stress and anxiety... I suffered for years with chronic neck, shoulder, and lower back pain on and off. I went to physios, got PTs, went to the doctors, and none of it helped.
