Tulpa was what Uncle Webster called it when he heard about it ("What is this, Baby's First Tulpa?") and although her mother scoffed and rolled her eyes and said it was not a tulpa, the word had already burned its way into Alexandra's brain like a cattle brand. Tulpa. She liked the way the "tul" sat on her tongue and the "pa" bubblegum-popped from her lips like a spell. Like a command.
