Writing isn't about quality or getting an audience anyway it's about appeasing the horny little gremlin in your head first and foremost and if that can't override your weird attachment to Being the Best then you are shit out of luck.

Because it's given me that mortal fear of sitting down to try new things - no matter how logically I can be aware of it - and learn now that I want something more nourishing in my life.

And they stroked my ego from each jury-rig, using that "gifted" language, talking about IQ like it's somehow the only thing that makes a functional person. And I hate it all in retrospect.

Because I survived it by jury rigging enough things that impressed them to get passable marks in the end, even if it meant avoiding thoughts about my own projects and the realism needed to approach them.

But it's weird how a good portion of it still applies even if I look back on it and can't think of a single thing I was good at, exploited for them or not.

This is making me feel unfathomable things I've been trying to put into words and I've never even been a gifted student - in fact I was terrible at fulfilling their demands and had severe anxiety for years after. I missed several years worth of education because of it.

I think recognizing that there are real trans and gender non-conforming people who want to embody + be perceived like this is what really matters. There's no need to go around policing kink expression and exploration even if it's not immediately obvious what people are getting out of it.
