Can't wait for this!! ❤️🎉

Mainly he just had the misfortune to repeat some erroneous material from other sources, but he did add some of his own (I didn't go into detail on that - can DM you about it if you like!), all of which ended up being repeated because his book was such an important one for the history of AUL.
Thank you!!
Thank you!! Looking forward to 'seeing' you again at the Cromwell Museum lectures in the Spring!!
Thank you!! And I've just dropped you a DM. I'll be back in Oxford in the summer - it would be great to catch up again!
I love your AUL connections! Henry Fairfax was my introduction to the parish, and that led to all sorts of fascinating material! When I gave my talks on all of this at St Michael's I dedicated them to Bowman. My apologies for being a bit hard on Edwin Butterworth at one point, though!
#earlymodern #17thC I'm not on here often, but...my first ever history article is out! It's about the goings-on in 17th C Ashton-under-Lyne. I've been passionate about 17th C history for decades, but it's not my official academic field so I'm very excited :) www.tandfonline.com/eprint/MZICG...
Coming soon to PBS for those of us in the States too!
Half way now, and loving it!
@jonathanhealey.bsky.social - I was finally able to start reading it last night - and it's not often I find myself guffawing simply reading the list of characters 😅 Could hardly put it down to go to bed - superb history, brilliantly told!
Utterly sickened by this. Had no idea until I caught up on your posts.
Hope all is well after the storm today!
Also - seen in the wild at Aberdeen's Blackwell's today!
Thank you!!
Ohhhh - how *should* it be pronounced?!
That is horrifyingly parched.
🤣🤮
I saw they would be doing this!!! So envious!!!
❤️!!
😅❤️!!
This is wretched :(
Nooooooooo!!!!!!! This is heartbreaking :(
Splendid to hear!! The paywall stopped me from reading all of his review, but I'm delighted!! I was wondering what he would make of another big book on the early 1640s 😀
This is shameful and disgusting.
Aaaarghhh - autocorrect - Bankes!
Banks, I think? Re ship money?
#EarlyModern #17thC I'd be glad of some help with how assessments for these 3 levies were calculated. I'm researching a clergyman who paid £5 for the 1620 clergy Palatinate 'loan', over £6 in 1639 for the Scottish war (these seem rather steep!) and £1 6s 8d p/a (1634-36) for the repair of St Paul’s.
!!!!!!!!!!!!! No words.....
YES!!! Horrified to see this come up for my marking too. And I have had students attempt to use this feature for assignments on readings I have posted as pdfs :( That does not end well for them...
Love this!! Also, I miss blackbirds so much over here!!
