Fair point!

Planning for 20+ years out. Very far-sighted!

Huh. I got one of those in response to a query about an order including Velocirapture and thought it was a game-specific choice. I think I went with "rapturously" to sign off my reply.

The games arrived safely, so I evidently wasn't considered too weird.

Love this game!

Yes! That's cool.

The question I'm working on is when a circulant graph has a Hamiltonian path with a specified number of each edge type. The Buratti-Horak-Rosa Conjecture says, roughly, "always, except when stuff goes obviously wrong in some cases for composite n".

Well, that's even weirder. I have a research meeting about Hamiltonian /paths/ in circulant graphs starting in half an hour.

If you're interested in seeing if the juggling pattern stuff is usefully connected to what you're doing, here's the basic idea:

No, some don't fit. Maybe height 5 juggling patterns?

Three-ball juggling patterns?

Quacks or Brass Birmingham for ones I've played and know I like. Cascadia for one I haven't that I'd like to try. Ot whatever you suggest!

Ooh, this looks really interesting, thanks!

Sounds exactly right from the BGG description. Thanks!

I only know Verdant of those, and I've never tried it solo. But I like it and it definitely has the flavour of what I'm after. I'll check out the others, thanks!

I guess part of what I want is the sense of maintaining or creating balance in a somewhat complex system.

Maybe that's everything I want. Recommendations that ditch the environmental theme but have this feeling very welcome. (3/2)

Wingpsan, which has a solo mode, is on the edge, possibly a bit outside---competing against an automaton isn't quite what I want.

Food Chain Island also an edge case: a solo game that feels solo but the environmental theme doesn't really make sense. Fun to play, just not what I mean here. (2/2)

#BoardGameSky and #sologames, I'm looking for recommendations.

I want to play, or at least learn more about, environmentally-themed solo or co-op games. I'm not sure what the scope is exactly. Daybreak and Conservas are pefect examples. (1/2)

Yes! Five squad members left, albeit with three of them down and stranded. The Mouse and the Joker cleared out the last infantry on the last turn.

Recommended! The only thing I don't like is that the rules are online only. At the very least, the set-up along with the reference card would help.

A game of Lucky 7, ready to start: a grid with seven cards inside some map cards, and a pile of threat cards ready to cause trouble.

Third play of Lucky 7 about to start. Will this be my first win? #boardgames

April and May both completed first time on the difficult mode.

Seems like the trick is to get as many boats as possible /without/ going above the amount of tokens you can put on them. This seems to give you more money/resources/spawning than you need for anything.

Success! Onto April on difficult mode next time.

Solo game Conservas, set-up and ready to play the March scenario.

Solo game Conservas, set-up and ready to play the March scenario.

I've been enjoying Conservas. After three games winning pretty comfortably at standard difficulty, I decided to redo March at the higher level. I lost that yesterday and am ready to try again.

I've clicked the "show more like this" option, so that I don't miss any future 80s pop / urdu poetry crossovers.

Now I know this (thanks for posting!) I'm looking into it. Location and dates seem good, so pretty likely I'll make it.

Second play today. Another loss, but a bit closer: six squad cards left and only two infantry not eliminated. That helicopter is coming for me next time!

Today's mailbox. I've been looking forward to both of these.

Most people don’t realise how good the resolution was on 14th century satellites. This is an important illustration of that.

I was hoping to sneak John Wyndham in, but the it turns out that the good stuff, rather than the interesting-but-less-entertaining pre-WW2 work, started in 1951 with Day of the Triffids.

Good on time, debatable on SFF: The Man Who Was Thursday or Club of Queer Trades by G.K. Chesterton.

Oh, Harmonies. One you probably already know about. Not exactly an unknown gem, but well worth all the praise it gets, IMO. We often play the solo version as a team rather than the competitive version.
