I was already very happy with @CachyOS - but that it ships with the classic #Winamp 2.9 skin for Audacious included wins it a special place in my heart. It's the little things.

I very much prefer the #peertube @joinpeertube video and chapter controls over #YouTube - full chapter titles on hover, pearls on a string chapter marks. Well done.

Maybe AI is just a convenient excuse for downsizing and fixing quarterly numbers in a post zero interest rate era with lackluster product innovation.
Some people say that a team of 40 programmers gets reduced to 4 because #AI makes them 10x more productive and the other 30 are not needed anymore. But why would a company decide to keep their overall output the same? Why not keep everyone and 10x the company instead?
It looks like Proton was needed to reach a certain threshold of platform users and now people are starting to look into native ports again. I think it is entirely possible that Proton will become a niche thing only used to emulate a few exotic legacy games.
When the #SteamDeck and #Proton became a thing, many people (including me tbh) complained this would lead to fewer native #Linux builds - yet recently I see a trend with developers releasing Linux versions of their game just to quench out that little bit of extra performance.
I guess I have a new favourite playlist. #lofigirl (btw. I've recently seen a #Vinyl edition of a Lofigirl playlist in a local supermarket, the loop is officially closed now.)
I recently updated my #Unity project from 2022 to 6.3 LTS and everything went absolutely flawlessly. Didn't expect that. Pretty impressive, I gotta say.
Everyone rightfully angry at #discord and #bigtech and searching for technical solutions, but remember what really makes them shit their pants: you talking to your neighbours again. #democracy #regulation
"Furi" on #vinyl - probably one of the best #videogame soundtracks of all time, featuring Carpenter Brut, Lorn, Waveshaper, The Toxic Avenger, Danger and Kn1ght.
Listening to the new Carpenter Brut album "Leather temple", the official way - in style. #vinyl #carpenterbrut
Bruce Sterlings speech from 1991 is a must-read for every #gamedev - still very relevant today. lib.ru/STERLINGB/s...
(Found it via a recent blog post by Cory Doctorow which is also great in its own right: pluralistic.net/2026/02/23/...)
It's so annoying to have many of the do-gooders sit on their high horse like this and effectively scare away people who are open to change. The greatest disservice to social movements.
The Fairphone CEO put out a thoughtful article about diversity and then in the comment section, the social justice warriors tear him apart and are totally obnoxious, without even saying what they really criticise or would do different.

From all the stuff I got rid of over the years, I don't miss anything, can even hardly remember any of it - except #books. There are so many books I miss, I could make a list right now. I now get why some people have these huge shelves at home.
Even though I agree with the article, I don't want more machine recommendations for games - I want human curation. I want wacky people introduce me to wacky games. Something like the blogroll, but for games.

Another unexpected side-effect of #AI use in #gamedev is the reduced switching costs between engines. I had my VoxImporter plugin converted to Blender very quickly, which now has opened the possibility to migrate my game to the #Godot engine.
Man, fuck #selfhosting. Some of us have work to do. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
$5.11 for two Mac builds on #Unity Cloud Build. Bruh. Shit's getting expensive. What are people using for devops these days? #gamedev
I still wished the triangulation was a bit more even, but at least the rendering issues are gone now.
With the help of #ai I finally managed to triangulate my #voxel models without T-Junction issues. I've tried AI to solve this for me several times before, now ChatGPT5.3-codex made it work. ๐ฅณ #gamedev
Anyways, still excited for this thing and all it means for the ecosystem: a hardware baseline to target for developers, massive #Linux investments, and competition for the walled garden console makers.
The notion of a #steammachine barebone, without RAM, SSD, or controller is ridiculous to me, especially given that the RAM is hard to access on it. At this point, it would really make no difference to just build your own rig.
It could, however, be a good argument for getting a first edition #steammachine as subsequent runs could be hit by higher RAM prices and maybe lead to a sharp price increase.
There has been a lot of chatter about the #steammachine pricing related to #RAM shortages. I still believe that #valve most likely had secured the RAM for their products ahead of the unveiling, so it won't affect price.
PowerUp crate styles changed. Comes in next update.
