Did the US military respond to defeats/withdrawals in Vietnam and Afghanistan?

And a bit scary?
(and I'm not saying that simply as an infantryman in the Danish Home Guard!)
Hopeful for Wednesday too.
Knowing it's the Torygraph it probably in truth referred to people only owning to homes, gallantly trudging on in their daily lives like the egoless saints they are.
Some interesting bits, but I'm not sold on the paragraphs about children and social media (which, curiously, are also single source); and I'm skeptical about the reach of parents' parenting on how kids end up as adults - there's a risk we overstate our influence and beat ourselves up as parents.
That's a good point - turning Trump's 'I'm a mad man and I don't have a plan, so you better do as I say, or else' on its head. Trying to 'out-mad' the Iranian regime probably not a sustainable tactic.
Very interesting observation, as didn't the Iranian army essentially break into ~40 different operational structures (one in each province) once the ayatollah was killed as a sort of preparatory response to a land invasion? Can anyone in a central command function in Iran even gain control again?
At what point of humiliation for the US as a historic military power do you reckon those inside the US military start to actively move against their commander in chief..?

Many prior accounts of social media hostility focus on algorithms. With @boralexander.bsky.social, @a-marie-sci.bsky.social & @leapradella.bsky.social, we use data from 30 countries to focus on the role of societal conditions.

With the added kicker of Venstre's original sprouting branch way back when, Radikale Venstre, being the least radical party in the history of world politics and as devoutly boring centrist as you can get :-D
But making a diagnosis necessary for being able to get help isn't helpful (and that is also seen in the massive social gradient in who receives a diagnosis and who doesn't, so lots of cases are missed among lower income families and thus the social disparity increases as they receive less help).
Less liberal than before, or, though?
That's good to hear.
On the AI discussion I think angst for an annihilating wave could also be due to some of us considering the tasks done in our jobs quite mundane, so we perhaps overestimate the potential for our own machine replacement so to speak? :-D (I do analysis in the public sector)
There's no corruption of jobs data even with Trump..?
All those politicians talking into a camera should have someone doing something mesmerizing for them to talk over instead then?
These interest microtargets - have they actually been identified or it more 'they potentially could'?
It's no Matty Hamshaw against Watford, though.
In previous reporting a bit was made of the ability to either appeal the 15 points or not have them applied quite so automatically as assumed in the article's first paragraph. With Dejphon's £15m not being paid and the EFL disqualifying him completely you don't expect scope for deduction reduction?
What a weasel way to do it too: Normalise it via the Paralympics then point to that when you do it across the board.
Does the IOC have anyone with a backbone..?
Alas football authorities have over the years tacitly enshrined that in the tiers of terrible, racist is above homophobic, because 'religious feelings' or other such nonsense. A footballer's employment will not cease because of their homophobia, whereas it could more likely do so over their racism.
Can I ask if you'll include the English Championship?
Several Danish municipalities have been experimenting with creating in-house 'AI assistants' for city councillors to help with 'documents barrage', so there's also a democratic/empowerment element to it?
Thanks, that was an interesting read. Being purposefully unuseful can sometimes feel almost revolutionary - especially when you (as I do) is in embedded into and live in a very Protestant working culture, where usefulness is so ingrained people don't even see its confines.
I've torn the ACL in both my right knee and left knee. I've still not picked up my jaw from the floor at the news she insists on competing mere weeks after tearing an ACL. I just can't get my head around it.
Obvious, for a Dane, to see Peter Schmeichel lament the use of pushing/blocking on 'keepers. I have rarely wept as I did, at 10yo, in 1993 after Bakero and Hierro did the block and goal maneuver on Schmeichel in the crucical World Cup qualifier in Sevilla that denied us World Cup 94.
We're going to be seeing this more and more, and across the entire developed world, and my (faint and naïve, yes I know, I've been a socialdemocratic party member for 20+ years after all :-D ) hope is it puts housing policy into focus as THE arena for redistribution and economic fairness from hereon
...or the advent of 'turbulence zones'?
Poor that it was so small he could carry it and didn't need a dolly to ferry it out of the store.
Using a saved version of the FiveThirtyEight SPI database of matches 2017-2023 and each team in a match's Match Importance would indicate the EFL's has matches more tightly bunched and the EPL mroe games with more riding on them - and also slightly more than rest of Big 5 (percentiles):
That would probably be interesting to replicate in the three EFL divisions seeing as the number and proportion of 'meaningless' games should be a fair bit higher than in the EPL (and, as someone who has always been of the mind there are too many games in the EFL, an argument for 20 team divisions).
