This guy! Opposite of Ardern just means opposite of imposter syndrome, opposite of charming, opposite of leading.
Weird response to the question all NZers are asking every day

How come they keep spelling “open” wrong?

Does that street look closed to you? Only if you’re a car… and presumably that’s the real problem. #UrbanTruth

Expect more social vandalism in the coming months. If current govt feels they might lose the election, they can at least inflict as much damage on social democratic institutions as they can, knowing they will not recover in time for their next chance to privatize and corporatise life in AoNZ. #NZpol

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

Luxon says he's laser focused on mortgages & education; not political maneuvres.
But it's the highly political, constant, ideologically-driven attacks on Te Tiriti that his govt will be remembered for. +inaction in fuel & climate crises. #nzpol

WHERE is it circulating RNZ? WHERE was it posted? WHERE did Jones appear? Why should that platform matter, profoundly, for any critical appreciation of what he said? What has that platform seeded, and spread with regards to what Jones noted, and how? What's he signalling, to whom, & why? #nzpol

Shane Jones is proud to get "cut-through on debates by deploying hyperbole". PM calls it oratorical flourish. Some think his big words reflect a big brain. In fact, racism, cynicism, opportunism, narcissism all mask a lack of true intelligence. Or as 1 of his idols would say (project), it’s “low IQ”

A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!

Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....

Mainstream discourse refuses to acknowledge the basic fact of virtually every huge problem we're facing which is that white men want to keep controlling everything and they're willing to use maximum violence against the rest of us to do it

ANALYSIS: Government set to reduce Treaty in legislation to lowest possible standard - what it means Sweeping changes to Treaty clauses across 23 laws could lower te Tiriti to its weakest legal standard, reshaping how it influences decisions in health, environment and beyond.

yes we've all been frothing with the coup, meanwhile Mani Dunlop is out here reporting on this fuckery and what it means.

Only US Votes Against Women’s Rights Document At UN Commission - Health Policy Watch President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock told the opening of CSW that the backlash against women's rights "feels as though we are forced to

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.

Fuel prices are not the only reason to reconsider our love of utes

Reducing our use of one type of vehicle would make a big difference to air pollution, pedestrian safety, and New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions.

'The economics stack up': Fuel pain drives e-bike boom Electrify NZ says its e-bike sales have doubled since the energy crisis began.

Really really is time to drop the silly culture war on bike lanes, roll our sleaves up and complete the long planned cycleway networks. Everyone wins when someone rides, leaving more of expensive stinky stuff for other users:

The irony of so-called populist parties promoting the interests of the excessively wealthy is that excessive wealth is not popular. Who knew?

July 21 1935: The Führer orders a new reception hall and ballroom to "entertain foreign diplomats" at the Chancellery. Underneath the dance floor is an air raid shelter. A 2nd deeper bunker is built next to this in 1944, where he would spend his last days as the Reich collapsed.

WELL NOW, would you look at that?

A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

The messaging is on point, simple and positive. And nicely set up to counter the predictable “wealth will flee” bs. Cos if NYC’s billionaires would rather leave “the greatest city in the world” to avoid their collective $500m tax bill, well, doh…. They won’t #wealthtax #taxtherich #taxislove

Wow. MSD staff should get out more

“"There is a narrative across the sector that there are hundreds of NZs without shelter and there is a lack of willingness to engage with MSD. There is no evidence to validate these statements”

And this shit has DEEP implications for the way the country is run because it means white men (who still mostly run the place) do things that just vibe well with them rather than looking at evidence- which is currently driving us into the void on economy, energy, climate, housing, education....
