it was wild moving to california & learning that many of the monarch butterflies migrate east to west, not north to south like they do east of the sierra nevadas
this is a cluster of overwintering monarchs on a eucalyptus in pacific grove's monarch sanctuary
(sorry it's backlit, early morning)

a screenshot from the inaturalist app showing almost 60,000 observations of 595 species of nudibranchs around the European continent's coastlines
oh no! landlocked! there are quite a few nudibranch species in the North Sea & Mediterranean, in fact, @inaturalist.bsky.social says there are hundreds of species around the European coastlines, so if you ever get a chance to tidepooling, snorkeling, or diving, you can probably find some!
what's your region if you don't mind me asking?

Nudibranch dice! Inspired by sea slugs and my most recent diving trip!

a photo of a sea slug facing the camera, the body is translucent and it has big pokey yet squishy spines all over its body which are tipped in orange and white
I hate all this. I just wanna play games, watch anime and look for invertebrates.
Here, have a rainbow dendronotus nudibranch.
This is a nudibranch, or sea slug. I love finding them when Iβm scuba diving and taking pictures of them as well. Always fun subjects for macro photography.
If itβs Mondayβ¦itβs Macro Monday.
Some #nudibranch from 04/05!
The new to me ones were the Stubby Dendronotid (first one) and the Hammerhead Doto, which I havenβt included here because this little dude is the size of a grain of rice and my camera just isnβt that good. Other three are Hopkins Rose, San Diego Dorid, and Opalescent.
