White text on a blue background, a yellow pencil, and a black blot of spilled ink. The text says “share if you welcome artistic questions”.
Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone.
I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.

Blender is struggling. it's the best piece of 3d software on the market, and it's free. I'm not going back to autodesk.
please donate if you can!

looking at 3d artist jobs is like
train ai
listing from a company with suspiciously little information
dream job that's in-person a state away
dream job that got filled immediately
train ai
do 5 people's worth of jobs on a 'volunteer basis'
have 20 years of experience for an entry position

god sometimes the answer when you're stuck on something is to go even lower poly
3d render showing 2 cyndaquil; one is napping cozily under the kotatsu, while the other is balancing a persimmon on its head. two other persimmon are on the floor next to it, along with a few fluffy pillows scattered around. there's a large bowl of persimmons on top of the kotatsu, along with a hot cup of tea.
anyway thats my soapbox
i think there are a lot of ways that 3d printing could be so interesting and beneficial and waste less pla but its really just disheartening to see so many people that dont care try to turn a quick profit. not even mentioning how oversaturated and boring these prints have become to see.
so i cant begin to describe the crushing disappointment the first time i saw a dragon booth or whatever i was like woah thats cool how did you make those and the answer was "i just bought a 3d printer and ran them off." exhausting
i had so many invigorating talks with artist and engineering students and even just inquisitive students in general. students who had their own printers and taught me so much about their inner workings, and collaborated with other students on projects the campus couldn't support.
im always like extra disappointed by those 3d print stalls that use soooo much plastic for designs that arent even theirs that everyone else is also selling because my intro to 3d printing was working as a 3d artist on a college campus and ive seen what capable and curious hands can do
pointy ear appreciation post
i love forgetting to put tags on my posts. the blender baddies will find me anyway i know it
orthographic outlines of a beetle pendant.
I rendered out some loose outlines to follow using grease pencil lineart. i didn't actually model the beetle to scale because i'm lazy so i just scaled it down after i rendered it. "this is just more work in a different way," you might say. to which i reply, yes,
a 3d rendering of shining green beetle carapace with a red gem.
i've been thinking of pendant designs i could make to add to my chainmail recently, so ive been using blender to quickly make some maquettes! this one's loosely inspired by a figeater beetle. i don't have a 3D printer, so i'll be trying it out in clay soon
started yearning for cute lolita shoes but they're expensive so i'm doing the next best thing and modeling some #3dwip
