Calipers are fucking great (got one myself now), but as someone who never saw anythings else than a ruler during his complete education it's funny to have classes where everyone carries a caliper in their pencil case. First time I saw one, I didn't even understand what it was....

I work at an engineering department and I joke about them and their calipers all the time.
Just to clarify as this could be misinterpreted. I of course said absolutely no all times.
I said no about five times. π€·ββοΈ
Doing a polymer hydrogel lab for mechanical engineers, and 9 out of 10 ask if they can eat it. And one actually did.
Although I necessarily don't disagree, of you have social anxiety you actually can't just care less. I've tried for most of my life to not care. But the only thing that really makes me do it is a Xanax. ;)

On the other hand, the cow is happier and so is our climate. Oat milk goes perfect with coffee!
Yes, it's good but found it a bit too complicated and not very user friendly (highly geared toward org synth).
This is an extremely valid point. I use AI, and my students do (too much unfortunately) as it can be good. But you must know how to learn first!
I'm devoping a free,, OS, chem. Research org. System (ELN with mol. Drawing, inventory etc) and would be looking for beta testers and bug finders soon. If interrested write to jonsun at dtu.dk
Thats almost free for any succesful researcher! I remember once we had a dept meeting, and on the agenda was proud announcement of a Nature paper. Which of course was a SciRep.....
But hey, it's Nature!

Hey, did you know we got Co2 electrolysers that can turn waste gas into useful chemicals? We could just set up a circular manufacturing economy if we want to skip all that war for oil stuff. Anyone? #EnergySky #ChemSky π§ͺ engineering.washu.edu/news/2025/In...
If you like blues rock and jam-bands, Tedeschi Trucks Band just released 'Future Soul' and it is REALLY good (and it has a robot on the cover, robots are always cool). Available on most streaming services ffm.to/ttb-futuresoul
Flight books, hotel reserved, Material Society Spring Meeting is less than .... a few weeks away. (This will be my only long-trip this year, and did none last year so I feel I can do it with some semi-good conscientiousness)
Nice! Me neither. Bit used to Discord and thought this was like an "adult" copy but seems navigation is a bit different. :) But welcome!
We're mad.
We are still looking for members, admins and moderators. Anonymous or not. :)
I don't drink anymore. But my anti-anxiety meds get me wired up some times. So now I have a photo frame of Waylon Jennings on my office wall. Greatest country singer of all time! #chemsky

Students do not appreciate irony when related to grades.... first complaint of the year. π£
The idea is to have a public "info" site then private members... just need to figure out system. :)
Yes, Discourse can be made completely private by restricting access to authorized users only. It supports private categories, invite-only access, and one-on-one or group chats.
Discourse channels can be set fully private, members only.
We have established a neurodivergent community on Discourse, autistic-academics.discourse.group, and we're still looking for people interesting in helping moderating/administration AS well as being members of the community. Please spread! #chemsky
The issue IMO is that it ha to be easy, multi platform and well know to get traction.... id love an OS free alt, but what if it stops 90% of users? :/
Me and @stecanossa.bsky.social is trying to setup a community for autistics and NDs? Anyoneome wanna join? Discord or similar.
