Spike: AI assistant + Figma MCP for code-to-Figma workflows — walkthrough YouTube video by GitLab Unfiltered

Spent some time last week trying to get AI assistants to do stuff for me as a design system designer in Figma. The results were mixed, but did lead to some actionable suggestions for what to do about it

Screenshot from Josh W Comeau’s blog post:

We've built a medical system that is cleanly divided into two halves: we have psychologists and other therapists for the mind, and then we have physicians and other medical doctors for the body.
This seems like a nonsensical distinction to me; the mind is part of the body, and what happens in one will affect the other. And yet, there is no established medical field that specializes in physical issues with psychological causes.
In fact, when physicians suspect that a patient's issues may be psychosomatic, they tend to be dismissive, as though it's no longer their job to treat the patient.
They'Il be tossed over the fence to the
"psychology" world, but this isn't a good fit either, since the issue is distinctly physical, and psychologists have no idea how to treat RSls. This is a stunning gap in modern medicine which, as Dr.
Sarno puts it, "borders on the criminal"

My Personal Experience with RSI • Josh W. Comeau I spent the better part of a year dealing with cubital tunnel syndrome, a painful nerve issue. This blog post details how I solved this problem.

I was reading this recently from @joshwcomeau.com which shares some ideas why it might not have been mentioned www.joshwcomeau.com/blog/mindbody/

Warranty Void If Regenerated Tom Hartmann had not planned to become a Software Mechanic.

Beautiful storytelling. Lots of bonus parallels to successful design system maintainer <> consumer relationships.

Proud to be a generalist.

Agreed.

If I was to categorise ‘legacy ways of thinking and doing’ as one of those three ingredients, I’m inclined to think it’s mostly about trust.

Leaders trusting teams to make decisions and deliver. Teams trusting leaders will back them and enable them.

It is probably in the docs, but are migrations two way? For example can I convert an existing project to jj and then back to git if I don’t get on with it.

I hope they don’t and instead put some of that money to invest in people in Wales. Keep talent and draw people from the private sector.
