May this day remind us that even when the night feels endless, there are people who keep the light alive - with courage, care, and unity.
Thank you for standing with Ukraine and for choosing kindness when it matters most!

This is actually a really common scam these days. A scammer will call and use AI to replicate a family member’s voice and the family member will sound distressed and having an emergency so you don’t have time to think. Best thing to do is hang up and call that family member “back” to confirm.

We’ve always had floods – but as the world warms, they’re becoming more intense and more severe.
We’re all in harms way – but those who don’t have a safe place to live, or can’t take food and water for granted, are always most vulnerable.

On #GivingTuesday we encourage everyone to support their fave causes. Remember time is also helpful. Today tell someone that public data is a public good. Or share the day in the life post with your fam. Sometimes small actions can make a big impact.

Two plots with the global mean annual burned area (left) and fuel consumption (right), for the 2002–2022 period, in grasslands & non-grasslands.
The new Global Fire Emissions Database (GFED5, 2002–2022) shows that at the global scale 1) by far, most area burned are grasslands; 2) area burned is declining; & 3) fuel consumption is increasing: ie, fires are increasing in forests & encroached grasslands.
