DRIPA was passed unanimously in 2019, by all 87 MLAs in the legislature.
Then the federal Parliament passed UNDRIP legislation in 2021.
It's important for everybody, regardless of party stripes, to stand against the current reactionary wave and defend Indigenous rights.
DRIPA is not a threat to certainty; it is our only path toward it.
A suspension of Indigenous rights would torch nation relations, Horgan’s legacy, and block the real path forward - long overdue good-faith negotiations.

Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada. They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing. No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty. Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.
