You can't deradicalize someone in one conversation. It takes multiple. As hard as it is, as much as nobody wants to do it, the best thing you can do is be kind and patient. You can't question someone's beliefs for them, they have to do it themselves. They do it faster when you gently plant seeds.

Many Tax Days ago, when our social media manager was small, he encountered a newspaper comic that depicted Tax Day as the grim reaper. To this day, he’s unsure why exactly. “Death and taxes”? “People hate the government?”
