You can't deradicalize someone in one conversation. It takes multiple. As hard as it is, as much as nobody wants to do it, the best thing you can do is be kind and patient. You can't question someone's beliefs for them, they have to do it themselves. They do it faster when you gently plant seeds.

We're a nation of immigrants. Fun fact: if your family passed through Ellis Island, you can try to look up their records at the Statue of Liberty website! (Who knew she had a website?) www.statueofliberty.org/arrival-sear...
"The story of Liberalism is above all else the story of how values that were once applied only to an elite were progressively applied to everyone."
Many Tax Days ago, when our social media manager was small, he encountered a newspaper comic that depicted Tax Day as the grim reaper. To this day, he’s unsure why exactly. “Death and taxes”? “People hate the government?”
As an adult, he understands the general vibe is right regardless.
The Constitution and a court order both say that the Everglades detention facility must allow people access to their attorneys.
Instead of complying, guards are cutting off people’s phone access and beating people who speak up.

Changing your name should not be difficult and it should not impact your ability to vote or receive important records. This goes for trans people, spouses, and anyone who just wants to. Your name is yours.
Oh, and go Hoosiers.

EFI President Chris Boom, closing out this year's Women's History Month: "We grow as a society, and all benefit, when people refuse to accept the restraints placed on them. We love to make progress sound inevitable. The women who made it knew better."

People keep saying “oh so you want OPEN BORDERS” as some kind of gotcha and like. Yeah. When I was a kid you could just drive into Canada. On accident, even. It was great, and I think we should do that instead of kidnapping children. Normalize being normal instead of being kidnapping weirdos
The famine-era Irish diaspora was largely created by colonial dispossession and neglect, not simple poverty.
Understanding WHY people migrate helps us develop better, more humane immigration policy.
