They step out of their warm, stale dens. Let their paws lead them past burrows and over hills. Their thick coats buffer the elements, barely.
Their destination is ephemeral, the trail covered in haze and purple light.

In my experience, you need an unobstructed view to get a good look. I remember a road trip home, on a highway in Iowa, seeing a few touch down on the horizon. Miles away, thankfully.

Our family also looked outside during warnings and never saw anything b/c of trees/hills/houses.
