Two days ago, US Treasury Secretary Bessent said the Russian oil waiver was finished. Today, the US extended it through 16 May.

The reversal lets countries keep buying sanctioned Russian crude at sea — oil — and the US Treasury's own waiver is now being kept in circulation for the second time.

So the US–Iran talks failed. Why? The world's best negotiators were involved.

Why didn't they give it their best shot — handing over Florida to Iran? Shouldn't be a big deal — the same people insisted just a few days ago that any land is "just a few square kilometers".

The reason Trump enjoys the phrase “back to the Stone Age” is that, like a prehistoric man, he tends to cave.

I suspect that Trump will take the opportunity in his speech tonight to put forward a MAGA version of the stab-in-the-back myth. Namely that the US could have totally defeated Iran if it hadn't been stabbed in the back by the traitorous Euros.

I think that at this stage it is already a settled matter that the future of Europe’s security lies in a direct military, economic, and technological alliance with Ukraine + a unified European nuclear deterrent.

The Ukrainian military is liberating territories, crippling russian oil revenues, helping Gulf partners fighting Shaheds — yet Trump administration insists we must surrender now and gift russia for free lands and people it failed to occupy for 12 years. Wake me up when this madness ends.

"The US decided that from now on the PURL program will fund its war against Iran and expects European partners to double further contributions immediately. The support for Ukraine will be provided in the form of steady pressure for capitulation. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Trump pressuring Ukraine to cede territory to Russia, Zelenskyy says “The Middle East definitely has an impact on President Trump,” Ukraine’s president said.

🚨🚨I tried to avoid swearing here but the only that comes to mind here is what a fucking #traitor and coward #Trump is again and again. 🧵

A four-panel meme showing a man progressively putting on clown makeup. In the first panel, he begins applying white face paint next to the text “Give us your ID, it’s just for adult sites.” In the second, with more makeup on, the text reads “Okay, now ID for ‘dangerous content’.” In the third, as he adds a colorful clown wig, the text says “Posting? You better have ID.” In the final panel, fully dressed as a clown with a rainbow wig and red nose, the text reads “Your online Burger King order is on hold, please provide valid ID to access your fries.”

In Naples, about 50 prosecutors and judges gathered to open champagne and sing Bella Ciao, the World War II anti-fascist partisan anthem. Activists, students and trade unionists spontaneously marched to Rome’s Piazza del Popolo chanting “resign, resign.”

Running restricted goods to Russia used to get you sanctioned. Apparently it now gets you unsanctioned. Cleared entities include a Turkish network serving Russian intelligence services and a UAE firm that shipped manufacturing equipment to Russia.

Three US Treasury actions in 12 days. 14 Russia sanctions targets removed. Zero press releases, zero explanations.

Among those cleared: a Turkish network Treasury said served Russian intelligence, and a UAE firm that shipped fuses to Russia. Sanctioned loudly. Removed in silence.

One reason Trump won’t give up on Putin peace deal — China The Trump administration believes that incentivizing Russia to end the war in Ukraine could eventually shift the global order away from China.

The Trump administration alignment with Russia is not primarily about China - at least, not for Trump and probably not for those close to him. If it were, then Trump would have been saying so for all the many years he's been focused on "getting along with Russia".🧵 www.politico.com/news/2026/03...

Like @perevaa.bsky.social's idea for NATO help Donald in Iran symmetrical to his Ukraine policy.

NATO won't donate anything but can sell mine clearing equipment to USA, while also gradually lifting sanctions on Iran.

Heard the term “quiet complicity” used about most Germans in the nazi-era - far more appropriate than just mere “passivity”, precisely because it emphasises agency and responsibility.
Think it was Afua Hirsch who coined/used the term

The security of other NATO states and European partners like Ukraine and Moldova cannot rely on continued alliance with a US whose leadership consistently put Russia first, even in relation to US interests. No amount of European diplomacy is going to change that.
