Our friends at the Wall Street Journal with another installment of their weekly argument for a wealth tax.

Tell them to go screw themselves.
"Airlines are lobbying the UK government to relax environmental and noise rules, modify passenger rights and cut taxes on flying, as they prepare for higher costs and a possible shortage of jet fuel because of the war in the Middle East."
Sounds exactly what you'd expect a villain like Zuckerberg to do, right?
"Now he plans to spy on his own Metamates to help train the robots that will someday throw them overboard."
Another great piece by @markgongloff.bsky.social
For those wondering why NATO exists and why countries want to join the defensive alliance.
As the US auto industry pulls back on EVs, the Chinese vault ahead.
I would have bought a Ford E-Transit van, except for the woefully pathetic 159 miles of "enhanced range." Yep, that 159 miles was their *enhanced" range version.
They never, ever learn. And for $2,000 an hour, you get:
"Sullivan & Cromwell told a US federal bankruptcy court that a major filing it made in a high-profile case contained multiple “hallucinations” made by AI software."
Snowy scene with softwoods in the foreground and mountains in the distance.
Same view but softwoods now are green and snow is gone in the foreground, but mountains still have a dusting of snow.
What a difference 12 hours can make. On the left was the view we woke up to this morning, on the right what it looks like this afternoon.
As I was saying…

These things are getting stupider looking all the time.
And she is wrong, and well known for being wrong on this subject, so why are you giving her a platform to launder her views all over again?
If your state's economic model depends on an ever-growing population, congrats, you're running a Ponzi scheme economy.
"The changing affordability situation has led to a shrinking supply of working-age newcomers, who are key to filling jobs and stoking demand for housing, retail and services."
So many ... questions!
Why do they like biofuels? Because it keeps the "we must burn things" crew in business.
It's great for refineries which are owned by the oil industry.
They love their tax subsidized biofuels for burning.
In the era of EVs, it's one more way to keep the US in the past.
Once more with feeling: Technology that definitely generates carbon plus technology not yet proven to remove carbon at scale does *not* equal negative emissions
Canada's problem is the US will now always be just one election away from becoming an authoritarian state.
"Some feel there could be benefit to applying anyway: as a way of hedging Canada’s bets if the US continues its deterioration from a liberal democracy into some form of authoritarianism."
Actually, WSJ, these kids know all too well how capitalism works -- they see the effects in their daily lives and in society around them -- and they think must be a better way. Hence the appeal of Sanders and Mamdani.
The "Mar-a-Lago mafia" is a phrase that's going to stick.
Uh oh. Someone else just drank the Kool-Aid.
'“If even a portion of those actually materialise ... it could be one of the biggest positive supply shocks we’ve ever seen,” he told the FT, referring to dramatic increases in goods and services that drive prices lower. “You can’t ignore that.”'
They will never stop doing this.
"Combined, major oil companies spent an average of $19 billion on global exploration *each year* from 2021 to 2025, according to Wood Mackenzie."
The only people who still refuse to accept this are 1) government officials and 2) the industry itself. Why?
Because: "...the UK government’s plans to reach net zero by 2050 relied on BECCS and other forms of carbon capture."
Worse: Drax got a record £999m in subsidies for burning trees in 2025.
The "Mar-a-Lago mafia" is a phrase that's going to stick.

"With such levels of fawning adulation around him, we can see how Trump got here. Not that he had to come very far, anyway. It’s not as if he has ever shown any sign that he worships anyone but the man looking back at him in the mirror."
March's persistent unseasonable heat was so intense that the continental United States registered its most abnormally hot month in 132 years of records, according to federal weather data. https://to.pbs.org/3Ogo4AX
Remember: ignore what people tell pollsters about climate change. Voting patterns are largely inconsistent with expressed "worries" about the climate. You could not have a Trump in the White House again and a GOP-controlled Congress if voters were actually this worried about the climate.
Okay, so it took a war in the Middle East, but more Brits are now realizing they CAN enjoy a holiday by staying home for once and exploring the British Isles!
There was a time when the president inspired pride instead of exhaustion. I miss that more than I can say.
A chart from Maine's fish & wildlife agency showing the various hunting seasons and regulations for various species.
Meanwhile, Maine allows year-round hunting not only of coyotes (+ 9 months of night hunting!) but also for woodchucks, porcupines & others -- with *no limits* on how many you can kill. They also permit unlimited killing of foxes, bobcats and others in season.

Completely with you on this!
