We are calling our senators right now and demanding that they vote no on the omnibus with DHS funding

We are explicitly mentioning ICE’s murder in cold blood of a man on the streets of Minneapolis this morning

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

My loose info so far is that the Minneapolis General Strike today had about 80 unions sign on, and it might be one of the biggest labor actions in decades depending on your definition

These are the Democrats who voted with their Republican friends to double healthcare costs for millions of Americans. They're all millionaires.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Screenshot of article excerpt: The Education Department also was concerned about other words in the application, said Adrian Klenz, who works with deafblind adults in the state. He said he has talked with state officials about the discontinuation of the grant.

“I was told that apparently the administration is going through past grants and two words were flagged: One was transition and one was privilege,” Klenz said. “Transition — transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Privilege came up because a parent wrote a glowing review of staff that said what a privilege it was to work with them.” ProPublica obtained a copy of the grant application and confirmed that those words were included.

The Dept. of Education has pulled funding for programs in 8 states that support students with both hearing and vision loss.

A staffer at one program says he was told the Trump admin. took issue with 2 words on the grant application: “transition" and “privilege": www.propublica.org/article/trum...

My wife needed a test for a rare parasite. Johns Hopkins's Infectious disease team told us that the CDC no longer provides the serum test. JH Hospital then had to cold call a hospital in Canada to begin a process of having it perform diagnostic testing.

Expect a lot more of this.

The average American simply has no idea how quickly the infrastructure that keeps us safe and healthy is collapsing. These systems run in the background thanks to government employees who quietly do critical work. Those employees are being purged and systems are being destroyed.

Title: Watch your language! Keeping morale up in the fight against facism.

Character A: That protest wasn't enough! We need to do more!
B: Stop! This kind of talk actually hurts our cause. I know what you're trying to do. You think if you say:
A: We need to do more than we did!
Group, looking motivated: Ok! Let's do more!
or,
A: That action made a big difference.
Group, walking away: Well, we did it! Everyone go home.

B: People are the most motivated when they can see their actions causing an immediate change and positive effect. And they won't want to repeat actions they think didn't have a big effect.
A simple graph shows a stick figure getting demotivated when the time to reach their result is too long.
So this is the real effect of your words:
A: We need to do more than we did!
Group, concerned: That didn't do anything? Maybe my actions don't really matter...
A: That action made a big difference.
Group, celebrating: Maybe my actions really matter! What should we do next?

The fascists WIN by making us think we are POWERLESS.

It's natural to think that the perfect event, if BIG and STRONG enough, will solve everything overnight.

Panel of a simple illustration of an X-Wing from Star Wars flying away from the exploding Death Star.

But this is a myth. One person alone has a small skillset, a small sphere of influence, and a small impact. The event that finally tips the scale may feel like a special event that finally did something different. But it isn't special.

An illustration of a scale with two piles of sand, the pile of gray sand on the left is larger and tips the scale.

Change WILL come from the sum total of all our small actions added together.

In the next panel the pile of rainbow sand on the right has become larger and tips the scale in the opposite direction.

So I guess I've gone and drawn a political comic!

I didn't like the discussion happening around the recent protest so I wrote a minicomic about it.

There might be more. I have ideas for more.

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously

But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state

Keep that same energy of support for her

What’s it called when a multibillion dollar corporation suspends a project because the government might not continue to give hundreds of million dollars in special interest tax breaks and also asks that multibillion dollar corporation to not use all our water and electricity? What is that word?

"It makes me concerned about the rigor of the report, if these really basic citation practices aren't being followed."
Katherine Keyes, a professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, was listed as the author of a paper on mental health and substance use among adolescents. She has not written any paper by the title the report cited, nor does one seem to exist by any author.

Katherine Keyes, a professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, was listed as the author of a paper on mental health and substance use among adolescents. An epidemiologist at Columbia had to issue a statement saying the research article RFK Jr. cited with her name is FAKE. It’s not real. The paper itself doesn’t EXIST.

Yall this is fascism. FAKE scientific articles used by the government to influence policy is FASCISM. This is horrifying.

Since Congressman Brad Finstad won't meet with us in person, we sent a squad of stuffed animals, each paired with a letter from a concerned constituent regarding the American children who have been illegally deported by the current administration.
