I try not to talk about my childhood/teen years, the therapy alone for it has been very difficult.
But I've been no contact for 10 years now. Best decision I made.
You owe your parent/parents nothing if they failed at the first hurdle.
And guess what, once I was big enough to defend myself, the physical stuff turned to emotional/psychological.
So nah, fuck right off with physical disicipline. You do not deserve kids if you do that.
TW: Childhood Trauma
I was smacked, shouted at, screamed at, and a variety of other things when I "misbehaved" including the classic wooden spoon.
I've now been diagnosed with CPTSD among other things.
If you think beating your child teaches them anything, all it teaches is fear and resentment.
When my kids were very small, total strangers would try to intervene if they saw my son playing with something pink or picking up a doll. There's a reason why children tend to play certain ways and that reason is adults are obsessed with policing gender in completely unnatural ways.
