I’m kinda wondering if that’s not how patronage of the arts has always worked, except from some (short) historical anomalies. It’s just that with global communication & crowdfunding, the group of rich patrons is larger today than it has ever been—and more people want to be artists than ever before…

But the moment this stops being fun—the moment I’m thinking more about units sold and royalty advances and distribution and so forth—is the moment I quit this and go back to being strictly a hobbyist.
The business side of this must never diminish my fundamental love for playing TTRPGs.
