We have age-associated macrophages in visceral fat making C3a and increasing inflammation. C'mon macrophages, we need your help here. Wonderful new paper from Dixit lab @yalemed.bsky.social #SenNet

#AAI2026: Besides our #HIPC Guest Symposium, we will have two presentations from members of our #ImmuneSpace team (
@skleinstein.bsky.social & Jian Xing) on Saturday, April 18th! Hope to see you there at @aai.org 💬💡🙂
Members of our Data Management and Analysis team had a great time at NextGenOmics, Spatial & Data US! Joann Diray Arce, PhD gave a talk on ImmuneVISTA and MultiOMICs in #vaccine research

Congratulations to my wonderful Yale colleagues!
Working together to advance understanding of human immunology. Well said Holden! @hipcproject.bsky.social
FACT OF THE DAY. 26 March 1953. In a huge medical breakthrough, US medical researcher Dr Jonas Salk announced that he had created the first polio vaccine. Polio cases fell from 58,000 per year in 1952 to 6,000 by 1958. Salk’s vaccine was replaced by a new one developed by Albert Sabin in 1962.
🎉 Congrats to #AGE2026 Early Career Scholar Awardee Piper Wilburn- #IndianaUniversitySchoolOfMedicine.
Recognized by the #AmericanAgingAssociation, her research studies how the bone marrow niche shapes stem cell function and transplant outcomes in aging.

Me surrounded by the ridiculous beauty that is every Oxford college.
I love phagocytosis- the most ancient form of immunity (estimated at 1 billion yrs old!). Lucky to geek out with all the other macrophage and neutrophil geeks at beautiful Keble college, Oxford.
New clues to understand #HealthyAging from @yalemed.bsky.social studying longevity in nature. #SenNet www.science.org/doi/epdf/10....
Sharing on behalf of Dr. Florian Krammer for those interested - his podcast is great!
Episode 0 of my new podcast viroLOGICAL is online. This first episode is a little longer and gives a general overview of viruses and viral diseases. Find it on Apple, Spotify, and Podigee: virological.podigee.io
Learning lots about #lung autoimmunity as a contributor to severe #asthma from Dr Manali Mukherjee from #TheFirestone. Great reminder that blood is not always the right place to sample for autoimmunity -sputum can be a much more informative marker.
Both chambers of Congress have now passed the FY26 minibus with NIH provisions. The President will sign.
(1) $48.7 billion for NIH
(2) Full IDC recovery
(3) No more multi-year funding
(4) No NIH reorganization, maintaining the current IC structure.
Thank you to Bob McDonald for hosting me on @CBCRadioCanada to discuss our work @yaleschoolofmed.bsky.social on what leads to variation in common cold virus infections and how we tackled this using nasal organoids. Listen here: www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...
Glad to join today in teaching #CyTOF for Yale's Computational Proteomics course directed by Dr. Maria Rodriguez Martinez. Multidimensional single cell immune profiling for #HIPC takes a team including Dr. Adam Tanguay and Dr. Ashish Shelar.
My most recent manuscript is available from @pnas.org . We describe a population of inflammatory cytokine MIF responsive T cells and their importance in Rheumatoid Arthritis pathogenesis.
Solo markers were interesting but combining gene SNPs and plasma metabolite data showed predictions for severe #COVID. That's why we study the whole #SystemsImmunology #BigScience #Teamwork
A black-and-white photo shows Dr. Leila Denmark (center), an elderly woman with glasses, seated and smiling while looking at a baby who is laughing and facing her. Another younger woman is also seated to the right, laughing and placing her hand near the baby's midsection. The scene suggests a warm, inter-generational interaction, possibly in a clinical or home setting. Dr. Denmark was a pioneering pediatrician, known as the world's oldest practicing pediatrician upon her retirement at age 103.
Dr. Leila Denmark co-developed the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine.
World's oldest practicing pediatrician until she retired at age 103 (after 73 yrs). At the time of her death at age 114 & 60 days, she was the 5th-oldest validated living person in the world & 3rd-oldest in the US. #WomenInSTEM
I am excited to share our new paper @JExpMed led by our one and only #Alejandra_Aroca

The Trump admin has been targeting whistleblowers, from the #FEMA36 to the countless other patriotic public servants and scientists across NIH, CDC, NASA, and more who spoke out about the danger posed by the chaos in our federal agencies. This is an concerted, autocratic effort to silence dissent.
