Brooke Combe
17/04/2026, Bristol Thekla

My word. What a performance! One of the best shows of the year so far, Combe was spectacular. She owns the stage and the songs and her voice is even more incredible live. Her crowd work is infectious. She’s outgrown this sized venue - lucky to see her there!

Wonderful set from the sou vocalist, accompanied purely by a guitarist. Many of the songs not yet released but looking forward to hearing them on record. Fantastic voice and beautifully humble on stage. Very glad I managed to get to the venue on time.

The Haskins
16/04/2026, Dom Joly’s Speakeasy, Cheltenham

A young local band invited by Joly to perform. A couple of originals that sounded good and then some well worked Beatles and Stones covers. Tight outfit but of course an early gig so a way to go. Good luck to them.

The Happy Mondays
03/03/2026, Bristol Beacon

I’ve never seen the Mondays so this was a great treat, despite the obvious omissions from the original line up. What they haven’t lost is their enthusiasm and groove. The room was bouncing to their classics, with Hallelujah a stand out for me.

Wrote this at the time and never posted. A cracking, small support slot from the underrated 80s/90s band. Their rendition of All Together Now was a fantastic moment, bringing the whole room together and set up the crowd perfectly.

After being blown away by their latest LP & Cameron Winter’s solo record, this did not disappoint. Winter, hooded for a chunk of the set, was incredible. Their eclectic sound did not get lost in the cavernous space & the crowd was rapturous in response.

Completely forgot these guys were supporting - what a pleasant surprise. Jeez they and crowd made me feel old, but the music made me feel 20 years younger. Absolutely joyous set and I can’t wait to see what the future hold for them.

Every time I’ve tried to see Echo & The Bunnymen fate has not been on my side. The wait was worth it for this set of their greatest hits. Finally getting to hear Ian sing live while Will played his spellbinding guitar hooks was all I’d hoped it would be.

Fronted by an incredible multi-instrumentalist, their jazz and dub fused art was brilliant listening but didn’t quite capture the imagination of the post-punk/indie loving crowd, which was a damn shame.

A short but great set with a number of not yet released tracks from their new LP. Brilliant to see them in a small venue and they had the crowd dancing throughout. 23, Clockwork and Maybe Not Tonight stood out alongside a cover of New Order’s Age of Consent

First time I’d heard of the Brighton band and they were decent dream pop outfit. Particularly loved the performance of multi-instrumentalist and clear linchpin of the band, Sarah Ryan. Will be intrigued to see how they grow in the coming years.

An in store from the wonderful singer-songwriter, playing several tracks from her new LP before finishing with a classic. With just her and her guitar in an intimate space it made for a special, beautiful gig - one to treasure.

One of the best acoustic guitarists I have ever seen play live, his work on the guitar is beautifully sublime. A set littered with wonderful stories, brilliant covers of songs important to him, some classics and some teasers from his new LP

Totally forgot to post this. Brilliant night drinking my favourite beer to the eclectic blend of jazz, soul and dance. Took a while for Kwasi to really get into the vocals but through Mr Scruff did not disappoint. A cracking evening!
