Who will call for negotiations tomorrow? The racist tax-dodger convicted of animal abuse? The guy who hoped Greta Thunberg would be raped by the IDF? McGregor's mate who thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen?

Everyone who says they support the fuel protests should be forced to listen to the interview their “PRO” just gave on national radio. Absolutely deluded, facebook-brained nonsense.

FactCheck: Are evictions in Ireland at the highest rate since the Great Famine? Labour TD Conor Sheehan recently made the claim in the Dáil.

Everything that's wrong with fetishising "fact-checking" as an accounting exercise, debating decimal points while missing the forest for the trees.

Minutemen: “Corona” Read Zach Schonfeld’s review of the track

For Pitchfork's "Saturday Tracks" column, I wrote about my favorite Minutemen song, the late great D. Boon, their vision of punk as a means of working-class solidarity, and the television show known as "Jackass":

Amazing how constantly having to call meetings like this, begging them not to jack up the prices of fuel, food, homes, etc etc, never seems to make them question whether the laws are robust enough in the first place

A huge reason for a lot of the housing and social problems that we have in Ireland in 2026: when the banking crash happened in 2008, there was this narrative that people in negative equity were the biggest victims of all.

Getting house prices back up was seen as "fixing the economy".

Second time lucky for me? I ordered the plain blue one at the end of last year and they sent me the black DS9 one (which is fine as it is, but not what I wanted)

Switchblade Romance, aka Haute tension. It’s a bad vibe, I felt like curling up in a ball afterwards

It eventually got a cert in 1999 I think, after the BBFC rated it for the UK. We didn’t always follow them; in HMV we had to pull the Book of the Dead edition of The Evil Dead because it was still technically banned! IFCO only rated it a few years later

Plenty of politicians today (justifiably) concerned about schools having dramatic cuts to SNA allocations for the forthcoming school year.

After a root around I can find one (one) TD who raised issue when the NCSE signalled the soft policy change in a revised policy document that led to these cuts.

35 years of @taddoyle.bsky.social's 8-Way Santa!
Recorded at Smart Studios w/ Butch Vig whose work with Killdozer the band admired, 8-Way Santa finds TAD pushing their sound in new directions. Not a band to rest on its laurels, TAD began to add melodic touches to their sound, as evidenced by "Jinx"

Israel used weapons in Gaza that made thousands of Palestinians evaporate US-made thermal weapons burning at 3,500C caused 2,842 people to "evaporate" in Gaza, Al Jazeera investigation finds.

“Four of my children just evaporated,” Badran said, holding back tears. “I looked for them a million times. Not a piece was left. Where did they go?”

There are no words to adequately describe the evil here.

I always think of Kincora when people say it's like this 'now' although this is clearly bigger.

The UK govt spent decades actively using child sex abusers & covering up to protect politicians, while shaming victims. They framed a man and sent him to jail for manslaughter for trying to expose it.

On RTE 1 there, Today with David McCullagh, @mcculld.bsky.social asks: "what advice would you give to road users?"

RSA spokesperson: "Very dangerous conditions for drivers." Continues to talk about drivers. Drivers only.

DMC: "any advice for any other road users such as cyclists?"
