Talking ourselves into inequality: the new fuel ads, the NDIS and "social cohesion" show how neoliberalism has colonised our tongues Under the pressure of decades of right wing culture wars—which have run parallel to cross party support for neoliberalism—the traditional vocabulary of welfare, redistribution, egalitarianism, and cla...

Very good read. The idea of 'rights and obligations between citizens and the state' has really taken a hit over the last 50 yrs.

I think we should be big enough as individuals to support welfare systems that helps anyone when needed without the guilt trip.

Rethinking private health: what Australia can learn from abroad This is the third of three articles examining the value private health insurance and private healthcare bring to the Australian health system.

I'd b happy 2 have single-payer model or Beveridge-style model. Either would b significant improvement on AUS's current system which is devolving in2 the US system.
Better care, lower costs, what's not to like.

Is there really untold oil wealth in Queensland’s Taroom Trough? Here’s why scepticism is warranted During the 1973 oil shock, Queensland promised to open a huge oilfield. History is repeating as Australia searches for secure supplies of fuel.

The "sea of oil" in the Taroom Trough, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli cosplaying oil driller proclaimed excitedly from the location earlier this month. So what is down there & what are the issues? Kevin Morrison from UTS with some perspective. #qldpol

CATL claims 6-minute charge and 1,500km range for new electric vehicle batteries Chinese group also slashes charging time in race against BYD for electric vehicle battery supremacy

We are not far from #EVs that will not only charge faster than a petrol car can refuel, but also go further than a petrol car..

I'm sure even at that point, many Diesel and fossil fuel lovers will claim #Evs just arn't there yet..

Australia is one of the largest gas exporters in the world, but Australians don't get a fair return for this finite resource.

@davidpocock.bsky.social joins @richarddenniss.bsky.social & @leanneminshull.bsky.social to discuss the case for a 25% gas export tax. #auspol

The Petroleum Resources Rent Tax is broken. Australians deserve a fair return for our resources.

A 25% tax on gas exports would raise $17 billion a year (which yes, is far more than $6.9 billion over four years!)

These are Australia’s resources. It’s time we get a fair return.

'Pay peanuts get monkeys' always been response 2 attempts 2 rein in exec pay. I'd prefer cheap monkeys (less cruel more competent). Want more than $350K, go 2 private sect

Volvo electric semi scores another real-world win with Coca-Cola Pepsi may grab headlines with their Tesla tie-in, but arch rival Coca-Cola is quietly building an electric semi truck fleet of its own.

So China & Tesla don’t steal all the headlines, Volvo Trucks (Volvo Group) quietly put 5,000+ electric trucks into real-world deployment, logging 100+ million zero-emission miles over the past five years.

Not under Geely. Not hype. This is happening. EV trucks are scaling everywhere, all at once.

Don't believe the empty threats from the gas industry that they'll leave if Australia taxes its gas exports properly.

Inpex are looking to invest RIGHT NOW in high-taxing Norway. They're taking the piss.
