I wrote this for the Tanabata fic exchange... it still needs some edits IMHO so I've hesitated in sharing it, but I love the premise for this... the slow burn pining that is somewhere between deep friendship and possible romance, and the grief when friendship wanes.

1. Explain the theme of “star-crossed Love” a bit more thoroughly, please! Just like the legend of Tanabata, “star-crossed Lovers” has become a trope that means “Lovers who are doomed to not be able to be together forever”. This can take a wild variety of shapes and interpretations, and it does not even necessarily have to be tragic (even though it often is). Other famous examples of star-crossed Lovers are Romeo & Juliet, Jack & Rose from Titanic, and (in my humble opinion), Shinji & Kaworu from Neon Genesis Evangelion. 2. How do I participate? Simply fill in the sign-up form linked below, and you’re done! Then all you have to do is wait for the message telling you who your star-crossed Lover is and you can start to write ~.
3. How do I submit? There are no claims in this fest, so submission is as follows: go to the fest collection on ao3 via the link below, and hit “post to collection”. Your fic will remain invisible until reveals (and invisible for you as an author until the mod has approved it, although you can still find it back in “stats” if you need to until then). Don’t forget to gift it to your recipient and tag properly! There will be no submission form. 4. Can I post WIPs/sneak-peaks? Sure you can! Just make sure not to give away your recipient or too much of the content and tag the fest too so we can share it!

1. Writers can write any BTS (mono or poly) pairing, or no pairing, as long as the main theme is “star-crossed Love” and fest restrictions + the DNWs of the recipients are respected. 2. To ensure the harmony of this fest, restricted topics are: incest, paedophilia, beastiality, sexualising minors and underage sex, rape/non-con and dub-con. 3. You have to be 18+ to write NSFW content. 4. There is no min. or max. word count limit! You can write as much or little as you want! WIPs and chaptered fics are allowed! Just as long as you respect your Lover (they might rather not receive a one-sentence fic, for example).
5. Since Sendai celebrates Tanabata on August 7th,there will only be one round of reveals and no extensions beyond the festival. I hope you understand. 6. The submitted work must be a new work: works that have already been posted as a stand-alone or part of a series are not allowed! 7. If you need to drop out for any reason, I completely understand! Just message the fest (either through dms or email) and please respect the drop-out deadline (so as to not make the pinch-hitters’ lives too difficult!) 8. Most communications from the fest will be done through email, but just in case, please keep your twitter/bsky dms open as well. 9. You need an ao3 account to participate.
10. Please make sure to not alert your Lover that you are the one writing for them until reveals! 11.
