the cover i illustrated for my story, THE THAW. the story chronicles key moments— as defined by death, abuse, and sex— in the life of Enver Kaychak, a character from my stories BIRTH OF THE SUN and THE SOLAR SYSTEM. secondarily featuring Daniel, from the aforementioned stories, as well as BOY SKIN. this is a line drawing of a crow, mouth open in a silent shriek, frantically and fearsomely copulating with the dead body of another crow, a phenomenon which occurs in nature and here serves as a description of the potent intrusive thoughts and fantasies of the main character.
