Full Circle by Pennywise original release CD from 1997
2022 Limited Edition Reissue Silver/Black Spatter vinyl purchased at Vinyl Threat at The Punk Rock Museum on the Season 1 Road Trip
Released on this day in 1997, Joe's #albumoftheweek is Full Circle from Pennywise.
Joe has the original CD from 1997 & the 2022 Limited Edition Silver/Black Spatter vinyl bought at Vinyl Threat in The Punk Rock Museum.
It's also Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge's birthday today - HBD Fletcher!
I typically start my week with a random reggae vinyl set on youtube. I post them in a music club discord & here.
This week it's a roots set with dub elements from Moxa Records. Featuring Johnny Osbourne, Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru and others, it's a great way to kick off 4/20 youtu.be/E5PHlt-mjco?...
A new week, a new day, a new episode of the podcast in your feed π₯³
After the brothers catch up, four new songs get added to the playlist with tracks from Passion Pit, The Knocks featuring Yelle, Johnny Cash, and finally, at long last, Alice in Chains!!

Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails front cover
Seanβs #albumoftheweek is Year Zero, the fifth LP from Nine Inch Nails, released on this day in 2007.
Year Zero takes aim at the then current politics of the US, painting the picture of a dystopian future set in 2022 that is told from the perspective of numerous inhabitants of this new reality.

Final Thoughts: Some good stuff throughout the day. The Noisettes kicked it off with a fun track, hit up an energetic Ska track with Chudson, got a band I didn't even realize I knew with Disclosure, old friends alert with The Used & The Neighbourhood. No revelations, but a decent day of Noise!
Final song: Noise by The Sundays
This band's name rings a bell, but for the life of me I couldn't tell you why. Very emo/shoegaze type of sound. This track didn't really hit for me, but I'm thinking I should hit up their popular tracks. Any Sundays fans out there?

Next up: Noise and Kisses by The Used
Love their big hit The Taste of Ink. This track hits similar beats but doesn't quite rise to that level of awesome. Good track, but sort of a pale imitation of The Taste of Ink. Apologies to The Used fans π

Next up: Noise by The Nieighbourhood
I'm a big fan of Sweater Weather by this band, so much so it's on Season 1 of the Road Trip Radio Playlist @2brosroadtripradio.bsky.social but this track was underwhelming. Felt like a wall of blah coming at me.

Addendum - because Spotify doesn't go to the next track on the app when I play the Random Word game, but goes to a random track for the artist I just listened to, Spotify jumped into another Disclosure track. And that track is already in my regular rotation! π₯π₯π₯

Next up: White Noise - Live from Alexandra Palace by Disclosure and Aluna
High-bpm House-style with pop vocals and an absolutely banging bass line. I'm finding the studio version of this later because it could easily be a keeper.

Next up: NOISE POLLUTION! by Chudson
SoCal Ska Punk! Not something I usually get in the Random Word Spotify game. Good track, although it sort of sounds like a live recording at times? There's an open, environmental feeling that detracted from the punch I wanted.

Next up: Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution by AC/DC
Sounds familiar. I've probably heard the entire Back In Black album at one point but I don't really listen to AC/DC often. Slower song, but everything about the chorus works so well. Good track (obviously π).

Next up: Noise in the Forest (Acoustic) by Ripe
About what I'd expect given the "acoustic" title inclusion. Feels like it would work good busking, dude belts it out, but I think I'd probably connect with it better if I knew the original (assuming there is one)?

Took a break but back at it for a bit.
Next up: Noises by Pink Pantheress
Classic house beat with pop sensibilities. Breathy vocals modulated to harmonize with the beat. Good track, would happily listen again, but not a keeper type for me.
open.spotify.com/track/3dTyQ8...
Next up: Crab Rave by Noisestorm
Club banger with a bit of ethereal deep house elements? Another intriguing track for me, making me want to go deeper on their discography. But a bit too much club and not enough chill for me to include in the regular rotation.
open.spotify.com/track/4qDHt2...
Next up: NOISE by ivri
Experimental electric rock verging on hardcore? I'm not exactly sure what I'm listening to, probably because I don't listen to music that sounds like this. It's intriguing from a conceptual standpoint. But it won't be a regular listen.

Next up: Noise Pollution by Portugal. The Man featuring Mary Elizabeth Winstead & Zoe Manville
It's got that alternative pop type of sound like various other Portugal. The Man tracks I've heard. Hard to describe - elements I really liked, some that I didn't π€·ββοΈ

First song: Never Forget You by the Noisettes
Fun track - sort of a soul-rock throwback that worked really well. Not a regular rotation sort of track, but defenitely had my ears perk up and wouldn't mind listening to more tracks from them

random word generator website with the random word noise
Playing the "random word generator and use that term to search spotify songs" game today. I listen to about 10 - 20 unfamiliar songs throughout the day and hopefully stumble across a gem or two. Late start, so this will likely be a quicker one than usual.
First word: noise
Swoon album by Silversun Pickups CD front cover
Released on this day in 2009, Joe's #albumoftheweek is Swoon, the second LP from Los Angeles rockers Silversun Pickups.
You'll find one of their bigger hits on this album - Panic Switch, a song about a nervous breakdown which was an afterthought and almost didn't make it on to the album!
I typically start my week with a random reggae vinyl set on youtube. I post them in a music club discord & here.
This week it's another dub-focused set, this time from MUTUCA DUBZ. Reggae classics done dub style plus non-reggae tracks like a dub version of Rapper's Delight youtu.be/GMG1J5rOdrw?...
A new episode is in your feed now π₯³
After the brothers catch up, it's on to the main event with 4 new songs added to the playlist with tracks from Cake, Men Without Hats, Hilltop Hoods, & Faux Real remixed by Wet Leg.
Dance safely folks, and thanks for listening.

California Cursed by Drain vinyl front cover
Released on this day in 2020 Sean's #albumoftheweek is Drain's debut LP, California Cursed
If you want to know more about Drain, rewind to Season 1 Episode 31 to hear Sean dive deep into the band when he added the title track California Cursed to the Season 1 Playlist
DRAIN IS YOUR FRIEND - 40831
Ran out of time so ending it here
Final Thoughts: a day full of deep house is right up my alley. Sons of Maria regularly nail it. I added a bunch of tracks to my regular rotation. Never Be the Same was the best of the group. Needed a predictably good deep dive today and Sons of Maria delivered.
Next up: Never Be the Same (23M streams)
Banger alert - this is how to do deep house right - perfect beat paired with melodic female vocals while not overthinking anything.
open.spotify.com/track/2oIFFx...
Next up: Foyer - Original Mix
I like it - didn't rise above the rest, but no complaints even if it's not going into the regular rotation. If we had just a bit more variety, I think it would have been a keeper - the horn stabs were awesome.
open.spotify.com/track/2Xhw9d...
Moving on to the Top 10 most Popular songs to wrap up today's listen.
First up: Don't Tell Me I Can't Have It (21M streams)
Feels exactly like what I've been listening to today - wish that they didn't turn up the distortion so much on some of the vocals though.
open.spotify.com/track/7DdrHl...
back to it - Feels Like Summer is quite a different track than the rest of what I've heard today - more straight pop than anything else and possibly an early one in their career? It's fun and light - not a keeper, but interesting given their overall discography
