April Fools! The Big Arch is actually the unhealthiest burger on their menu. With 1,020 calories, 25 grams of saturated fat, 1,760 milligrams of sodium, and 10 grams of added sugars, the Big Arch is like eating a stack of FOUR McDonaldâs hamburgers.
Best to leave this one behind the counter.

Soda giants have marketed sugary drinks aggressively for over a century, spending more than $11 billion combined in 2024 on ads and promoting sweetened drinks in a way that supports their bottom lineânot our health.
It's time to Flatten Big Soda! đ
This is part of a massive recall by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc, announced on February 19th that initially impacted over 3 million pounds of food products sold in stores nationwide.

CSPI has joined with 67 other organizations to write a letter to EPA Administrator Zeldin demanding that he rescind his recent firings of 19 agency employees. At a time when the EPA is already lacking sufficient staff, firing these civil servants without replacement is a mistake.
On top of that, thereâs little or no saturated fat (up to 1œ grams) or added sugars (up to 2 grams). And the sodium (350 to 460 milligrams) is reasonable for a plant-protein entrĂ©eâitâs no more than 20 percent of the 2,300 mg DV. Well done!
Lentils and beans also offer vitamins and minerals that arenât listed on a typical packaged foodâs Nutrition Facts label, including folate, magnesium, and zinc.
Because every Lentiful cup is mostly lentilsâor lentils plus beansâitâs a compact bundle of nutrients:
âȘïž Fiber: 6 or 7 grams
âȘïž Protein: 12 grams
âȘïž Iron: 20 percent of the Daily Value (DV)
âȘïž Potassium: 8 to 10 percent of the DV
When we saw Lentiful, a newcomer to the bean-and-lentil corner of the supermarket, we decided to take it for a spin in our microwave. The verdict: Thereâs a lot to like.
(Any products we recommendâlike these lentilsâhave been vetted by our staff and are not advertisements by the manufacturers.)
Two industry-backed groups - the Food Ingredient Safety Coalition and Americans for Ingredient Transparency - quietly started started making the rounds in state legislatures and with public messages promoting "a strong federal system" governing food safety.
But is that what they really want?

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins wants you to think a momentous change is coming to a food retailer near you, that "healthier options will be in reach for all American families."
Unfortunately, this is misleading.
CSPI's Eva Greenthal argues that this rule falls short, but adding nutrition requirements could fix it.

Graphic design of Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins wearing an "Eat Real Food" t-shirt. Pictures of Fruity Pebbles, Del Monte Peach Halves, Cheesy Potato Casserole, and SPAM are to her right.
Is this what HHS and USDA mean by "Eat Real Food?" Currently, foods like canned peaches in heavy syrup, Fruity Pebbles cereal, cinnamon roll-flavored yogurt, and SPAM would comply with the administrationâs new proposed retail stocking standards rule. (1/2)

Did you know that some of the healthiest nut butters have just one or two ingredients? Just nuts (or seeds) and maybe salt.
The fats in those need-to-stir varieties come from the nuts or seeds themselves, so youâre largely getting unsaturated fat. And most of these donât add any sugars, either!
I was glad to speak at @standupforscience.bsky.social in Washington D.C. this past Saturday to remind us all of the many fireable offenses RFK, Jr. has committed while in office, and to encourage the science community to not lose hope.
