Dear UNB Community,

We are living in uncertain times and world events are deeply felt by members of our UNB community.

This is the time for us to come together and support each other. I encourage you to ask for help if you need it and to approach fellow UNB community members with compassion and respect.

Please speak with your professors, student advisors, colleagues or managers about specific support you may need. I also want to remind you that UNB has resources available to assist:

Support for students is available through UNB Counselling Services and
Faculty and staff resources are available on the People & Culture SharePoint site.
Together, we can create a campus environment grounded in compassion, respect and understanding.

Sincerely,

Paul J. Mazerolle
President and Vice Chancellor

At the end of a long semester amid [gesturing around] all this, I know two things:

It remains a joy and privilege to share a classroom with my gen z comrades.

And, technology has become an incredibly toxic force corroding our pedagogical social relations.

Folks this isn’t sanitary. My spouse had a major surgery a week ago and second liver drain put in an hour ago. This door is the bathroom door.

This is true!

That said, be prepared for the fact that libraries will not have DVDs for the streaming exclusives. That’s on the streaming companies’ greed, not the libraries.

I say this not to convince you to keep streaming, but to prepare people not to go “whaddya mean you don’t have x show?”

Hoping this is a fair deal for my DFA colleagues! You have done incredible work this last month (not the work you wanted to be doing). #KeepDalStrong

Also can’t wait to email people again (but I’ll wait a bit)!

So when PH was telling everyone to stfu about their silly mystery neurological symptoms only summaries of patients had been reviewed? Pretty on brand of PH here actually.

Davis Cup Tie in Halifax to be Played in a Closed Venue Format

Absolutely cowardly stuff and, frankly, an admission that holding the match is wrong.

Horizon resumes mandatory masking as respiratory illnesses rise in N.B. | CBC News Horizon Health Network has reintroduced mandatory masking in all patient-facing clinical areas in all of its facilities, starting Wednesday, citing a rise in respiratory virus activity.

I’m currently in a @horizonhealthnb.bsky.social clinic in Moncton. No one in here in wearing a mask and there’s none available for folks. The receptionist claimed she couldn’t hear me because of my mask and gave me a look when I said I had long covid.

I just got the go ahead from the doc to start testosterone.
I’m so emotional about this.
Gender affirming care saves lives. It’s healthcare, mental health care, and so much more.
After socially transitioning years ago I’m finally on the road to being who I truly am

I changed my PhD dissertation research topic a while back, but this was my bread and butter for many years.

It’s frustrating to see the NB government dismiss library workers as if they don’t matter for student learning.

We lost a legend today.

I was so lucky and honoured to have met Ozzy when I worked security backstage for a black sabbath concert.
He was such a gentleman, and absolutely hilarious.

RIP Ozzy

When children are force-fed AI, there is no question of consent or agency. We are systematically telling them they do not have enough value to be worth training.

This is coercion. It is abusive.

He proposes releasing some ICE prisoners to labor on farms where the employers will “own them” and be responsible for them.

Historians have spent decades meticulously proving the straight line between slavery and modern capitalism’s concept of the laborer—or we could just let them say it.
