Excited to receive my author copy of this excellent volume today! Thanks @profannasaunders.bsky.social and Caroline Summers for their brilliant work 👏

I didn't want to post about it while the war is going on, but the haters in Turkey are already running very hot...
My new book, coming out in June, Germans and Turks—A Forgotten History of Europe
(and it's very different from what the haters expect...)

The other side got a look in on the news!
"I'm constantly being forced onto the road or crossing in between parked cars where they shouldn't be and where you've not got visibility of the traffic."

Pleased to be in Erfurt for the international DEFA conference on mobility and space.
I’m currently doing oral exams on Kleist’s novellas and it’s such a joy, year in, year out, to see how much the students enjoy reading him and how he challenges them to delve deeper into textual analysis. #germanistik
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
The Government wants to force millions of people who work in our hospitals, care homes and schools to wait decades before they can stay here permanently.
Sign the open letter to the Home Secretary and oppose these disastrous plans.

Closure of language courses is ‘national catastrophe’, warns VC www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-u...
Wir müssen alle aufmerksam sein - in Kanada wie in Deutschland - wegen solche Massnahmen. Ich schätze, sie werden mehr und nicht weniger in den kommenden Jahren.
Someone has compiled a list of cultural spaces in Glasgow that have closed this year. It's embarrasing and really highlights how badly the city is failing arts & culture. eblknd.leaflet.pub/3mg6akzx3n22l
On Thursday 5 March at 4.30 our visiting Boston College Irish Studies scholar, Marcus Breen, will be speaking about 'The Struggle for Meaning in Irish Cultural Studies: Kneecap and Sinners'. All welcome in-person (Lanyon 01/052) or online. www.qub.ac.uk/schools/Iris...

Had the great luck to see the incredible historical document Indian director Chetna Vora produced in East Berlin in 1982. The intimate and unfiltered interviews with women of all ages and class identities are fascinating and I could have listened to them for even longer than its 2h20 running time.
Can’t wait for my swing through the UK to talk about queer women in Nazi Germany
Save the date! Sam Huneke @schuneke.bsky.social is coming to Glasgow to present his new book next month www.goethe.de/ins/gb/en/ve...
Exactly. And we pointed out the many shortcomings of the actual unification.
On the pro side, for the fun of the argument :)
Had a great time at the St Andrews Debating Society last night, debating whether Germany should have stayed divided, in great company.
One of my favourite public art works in Glasgow. The Empire sign by Douglas Gordon (1998) is a reverse-written, illuminated neon sign referring to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and exploring the Merchant City's historical ties to the slave trade and the British Empire.
Come to Glasgow in August!
Hervorragendes Gespraech. Absolut hoerenswert.
Grosses Kompliment an beide Gespraechsteilnehmer!
Need to make sure to see this! #glasgow
