Congrats @PoratShliomLab for this fantastic paper and thank you for your nice words about the comment. We are very happy you liked it!
Excited to share this commentary on the fantastic paper out today @natmetabolism.nature.com by Porat-Shliom and colleagues on the role of mitochondria and lipid droplets contacts in the liver. rdcu.be/e9uYa @ibmb-csic.bsky.social @csic.es
Extremely happy to see this out in @embojournal.org! Here we provide a guide on how to accurately determine mitochondrial membrane potential. Thanks to @marcliesa.bsky.social for the opportunity and to everyone involved! We hope you find it useful!

Very happy with this comment out today! It was a fantastic teamwork effort, with invaluable input from the editor @embojournal.org and the reviewers. Thanks a lot to all involved! @csic.es @ibmb-csic.bsky.social
Measuring mitochondrial membrane potential
@marcliesa.bsky.social , Guillermo Martínez-Corrales et al @ibmb-csic.bsky.social comment on common misinterpretation of mitochondrial membrane potential measurements & suggest guidelines for accurate determination in cells

Very cool. I always wondered why BAT was lipogenic with FASN activity. Congrats!
Thank you @jclinical-invest.bsky.social for inviting me to write a commentary about the original study published yesterday by Ducamp and colleagues, which shows a metabolic strategy to treat protoporphyrias. Commentary: www.jci.org/articles/vie.... Article: www.jci.org/articles/vie....

Moving into mitochondria with Marc Liesa! ABCB10, heme and redox stress:
Some projects are literally a blood.bath... maybe sounds familiar to some other researchers out there? 😅🩸
Makes sense.
My mistake. Got conditioned by the previous post about the panel scheduled for the same day as this one, but being delayed by absence of posting. It seems that posting dates can vary significantly between study sections then.
This one was posted today and the meeting is tomorrow. Maybe postings are delayed?

The data of PLIN5 regulation and its mutants is so cool too.
Preprint alert!! How zonated hepatocytes adapt to changes in lipid influx due to fasting or a Western diet (WD). We developed a microscopy-based phenotyping method called single-cell phenomics (scPhenomics) to measure the features of mitochondria and lipid droplets (LDs).
Fantastic work! Congratulations!!
Congrats!!

Do you know who Douglas Prasher is? Many don't, even though he is the person who cloned the original #GFP gene in the late 1980s. In my short history of plant light #microscopy I also cover a bit of his story - & why he is relatively unknown today, despite the importance of his work. See this 🧵👇
