Aaron Astor: My general tendency is to reject conspiracy theories. And yet, this keeps happening - massive trades just minutes before Trump announces something. And that something (Iran handing over uranium and opening Hormuz) often turns out not to be true at all.
How many portmanteaus are too many?
Exactly this many.
Exactly.
FULL TIME: #USWNT 3, Japan 0
Strong ending to 3-game series v Japan, which the U.S. ends with a 2-1 edge in wins. Both those wins come with more of a first-choice XI. A lot to like about that window overall. The idea of the US consistently dictating play/60%+ possession v Japan? Identity overhaul.
But WHY did it cross the road?!
Sorry, but it was a take of two Wesley’s to me. First game, I thought she played poorly. This game (goal and assist aside), she play solidly.
I still see Wesley below Girma, Sonnett, Rudd, and Davidson (Davidson could be higher once healthy).
To rest the others is the only explanation I could come up with.
NWSL Board of Governors should have to sit outside for this match. Fly them in, there's time.
Even in many of the northernmost reaches of the lower 48 you need AC to make it bearable.
🤔
But the NWSL could schedule summer games in the evening to help mitigate the impact of the heat. They too often have summer games midday or in the afternoon.
There's an "it would free up prime match windows at shared venues" argument that floated around the last couple of times this came up, and unfortunately it doesn't hold up for the majority of current teams.

Wait a min…maybe this is all a ploy to get more viewers so they can negotiate better broadcast rights! I’m sure the broadcast rights could make more money than on stadium attendance for many teams. 🙃
Why not wait to see how MLS’s experiment with it goes? I mean, the MLS is a textbook case of how now to handle broadcast rights. Let them test the waters first!
I’d likely drop my NWSL Full Season membership to Half Season because I won’t be sitting in an open concrete stadium in the bitter cold.
This would work well in exactly four markets: Orlando, Houston, LA, San Diego.
Might help the rest with player access and help with TV a bit, but feels like it’ll be a hard sell for in-person crowds and would require a loooooong winter break.
Did these commissioners also acknowledge the league often schedules midday and mid-afternoon games, rather than evening games, in the summer?! This is a somewhat solvable issue.
You can somewhat mitigate the heat concerns by only scheduling matches in the evening in summer…but the NWSL often does the opposite, scheduling midday or mid-afternoon in July and August.
I hate being hot and sweaty in the stands, but I’ll stay the whole game. If I get too cold, I’m out!
tbt to that one time we played in dc in march and it was so cold that all our technology broke mid game
I would likely drop my full season to a partial season membership if this switch happened. It’s often miserable to sit outside in Mar or Nov weather as it is. The NWSL could solve the issue of it being too hot midday or afternoon in summer by scheduling game in the evening ONLY!

When the Bush administration tried to monkeywrench the 4th Amendment in the name of national security, the FBI director, Bob Mueller, told Bush he'd quit in protest. Trump's Justice Department shouldn't get away with this.

There's someone in the comments of BSKY's DDoS announcement who is refusing to allow anyone to explain time zones to them, and buddy, I'm rooting for you.
This is a choice.
We have (knock on wood / Kinehora) limped along our old AC unit with some repairs. I highly recommend Kim Lim of Tek7 (tekseven.com). The website isn’t impressive, but he’s a problem solver and quick.
Last week, we published a @citizenlab.ca report on the ad-based location surveillance system Webloc, its capabilities and its customers.
Webloc obtains data from consumer apps installed on phones. How? We don't know. But the ad targeting segments shown in this 2021 Webloc screenshot caught my eye:
Good luck, lots of spoiling from the boyfriend (gotta milk it; it’s for the scam!), and a speedy recovery! I hope you do well with whatever drugs they give you.
If you still put any emotional energy into DCU, you may be beyond help. ❤️🩹
Contrary to what the PbP announcer just said, I don’t think DCU is “Goliath”
