We have a winner here. Live 1964 recording of Oud-anchored folk music at Hollywood’s only Armenian restaurant c. Mid 60s. I’m dancing all over the house, snapping my fingers, shaking my hips, driving the businessmen crazy

I know nothing about Grupo Moncada but this 1972 pressing is of excellent quality and definitely fits a sunny early spring day. I do buy a lot of random world music albums and am rarely disappointed

DOMi and JD BECK, NOT TiGHT (2022)

2.5 years since this album came out. Kinda a fever dream of a musical artifact: what album has feats from Thundercat, Snoop, Busta, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Herbie fuckin Hancock on it? Really loved it when it came out, and it v much holds up

Would compare this favorably to Surya Botofasina

I haven’t taken this off the table all week. My favorite purchase of the year, cheapish heat, just the chillest new age one could find. Gently meandering electric piano on side 1, joined by flutes and guitar on side 2. Pick this one up if you’re into the same schlock as me!!!

Steven Halpern popped up in something else I was reading about New Age music, so I grabbed this today (been in the bins since I started collecting). Cheap heat! Really wonderful atmospheric electric piano, reminds me of Surya Botofasina or Elijah Fox. Is this a seminal NA album?

I am a mostly unhappy BCBA, disgusted with my regulatory board for ending DEI requirements for continuing education units. The justification, like everyone else, is that this needs to be sacrificed for the survival of the profession. The false tautology of cowards.

Really have grown to love this Tony Williams album. Perfect spring day music. Also very prescient of where fusion was gonna go. In particular, Yussef Kamal’s 2016 fusion classic Black Focus draws obvious comparisons to this one. Would be curious if others enjoy this cheap heat

Raiding dad’s shelves. I don’t know Mose Allison well. This is bluesy, pleasant stuff; lowers your blood pressure with the vibes, but raises it with the butter. Very good shit. Probably more of an evening listen but is painting the space with easygoing energy

HBD Milt Jackson. I don’t have a lot of vinyl of his, but this is high on my list to buy if I happen across it. Bags and Brother Ray, no vocals, just slathering the room in butter. The ultimate late night album. A five sticker; I’d give it six if I could 🧈🧈🧈🧈🧈

Really just trying to keep it to music here, but a few years ago, as torrential rains ended a drought, I went on a hike and gleefully guzzled water from a waterfall born anew from the downpour. It resulted in the worst diarrhea I’ve ever had.
