The pitch of Douglas Alexander’s voice get’s higher with each successive interview as he has the unenviable task of covering the morning round today. Much more of this and he could front a BeeGees tribute band.

Saw Haircut 100 twice. Once in 82, at the height of the mania, supported by the Bluebells, then in 2024, supported by Barbara, so good choices of support acts would be putting it mildly.

Fendahlene put me in mind of Badfinger (in a good way, obviously). Bit of a Lennonesque electric charge in the vocal.

This is great. Lovely guitar work and vocal.

This is tough. Inside Out is one of Roddy Frame’s immaculate covers written by fellow Scot Jesse Rae, which makes me love it dearly. But Native New Yorker is part of my musical DNA, so that gets my vote.

That phrase ‘collective self defence’ covers a multitude of sins.

When you’re convinced that you’re right in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, it’s a cognitive dissonance coping mechanism to get everyone else to be wrong.

Thing is this: if you believe in democracy, you listen to the voters not the voices in your head.

I think that the advantage that Green policies have is that they are consistently rooted in a philosophy of progressive positivism, while Labour has almost completely divorced itself from its own philosophical bedrock.

Apparently Starmer thinks that talking about wealth redistribution is ‘extremism’.

Starmer is like an abusive husband, who keeps promising he’ll change, but has no intention of doing so, now waking up to find that the partner he took for granted has finally left him, but continues to behave as if it’s not really happened.

Nowhere Man. Harmonies. The trebliest guitars ever. And they played it live in concert a number of times and made it look effortless.

Actually Luke, the Greens have consistent policy positions underpinned by a progressive philosophy which at one time would not have been out of place in compassionate and honest sections of the Labour Party, which is why they’ll be getting the vote of this former lifelong Labour supporter.

This makes them only band to have written two songs about scandals linking politicians and osteopaths.

Mandelson’s Fifth Column The British government’s business department exists to undermine democracy.

1. In 2009 I wrote this. I argued that Peter Mandelson's department “functions as a fifth column within government, working for corporations to undermine democracy and the public interest.”
This thread explains what I saw, and reaches a startling conclusion.🧵

Starmer has turned Labour into a Tory party with one or two panacea policies for progressives. It’s obvious that people who want change will deservedly take their votes elsewhere.
