I have concluded that spelling bees can only exist if the language is dumb.

Like, kernel & colonel sound identical, but rough, cough, bough, and though don't even rhyme. Makes no sense.

But could you even have a spelling bee in Japanese? Seems like it would just be:

"Spell こけし."
"こけし."
"Correct."

To accompany the music is this weird gymnastic/interpretive dance performance. Kind of shaky and awkward. I've seen better performances on Got Talent.

So yeah, really disappointing performance, not worthy of the 50th anniversary of one of my favorite albums. The whole thing felt under-rehearsed.

My favorite part of the original is in part 2, when Mike was feeling rebellious. Record label wanted him to add lyrics to a poppy rock bit, so he drank a bottle of whiskey and screamed his brains out like a caveman.

In the concert, they gave it a hip-hop beat and generic "uh, yeah" hip-hop vocals.

At the end of part 1, there's this repeating 10-bar chord progression. One of the guitar players somehow got TWO whole bars ahead of everyone else. He eventually fixed it when he switched from rhythm to lead, but I have no idea how he stayed there so long without noticing or trying to fix it.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I got the Blu-ray of the Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Live Tour because TB is one of my favorite albums ever. It has a few moments of brilliance, but is stained by mediocrity, and they RUINED MY FAVORITE PART!

Unfortunately, the selection here is limited to that sour grapes mix and the sour mango mix with strawberry and peach. As a weirdo that hates strawberry, I'm gonna pass on the mango.

Me learning that "emoji" has nothing to do with "emoticon" and is literally the Japanese words "e" and "moji", translating to "picture characters" or "pictograph".

I suddenly remembered PB&J Otter is a thing that exists and it's making me irrationally angry.

First, instead of being some kind of fun wordplay, their names are literally Peanut, Butter, and Jelly.

Second, Butter is the youngest, which means there was a time when there were just Peanut and Jelly.
