It’s not science if nobody’s keeping score. What will happen when SNAP bans spread?

La Jolla #NoKings surrounds the four corners leading to downtown. Check out the car horns. Joyful.
Very good @newyorker.com piece on Gavin Newsom, by @nathanheller.bsky.social.
Gets way, way past the usual media shorthand about him.
(I respect what Newsom has done as mayor, lt gov, and now two-term gov of America's best state.)

I don't want to talk about the 2028 race until after the midterms. And let the primaries sort things out.
Saying this is a good article.
My first remarks since being arrested last night.
Nailed it
This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
Y’all thinking about this? #GIS
Big Tech is projected to invest $500 billion this year on AI infrastructure. What could go wrong? @chjreportinghealth.bsky.social @ericnost.bsky.social centerforhealthjournalism.org/our-work/ins...
A red flag warning. Sports books are going to wound large numbers of mostly young men, disproportionately of color. Sports betting perverts actual news coverage when @Espn and others have an ownership stake — undermining their credibility. This is a national own goal of disastrous proportions.
It was a pleasure to speak with @fransmith.bsky.social about our recent @jamahealthforum.com study. centerforhealthjournalism.org/our-work/ins...

The Amazing Fran Smith’s latest — with authority!
I am, in fact, the arbiter of proper behavior, and the sooner everyone accepts this, the better off we'll all be
Folks are frustrated with Dems in Congress right now.
Here’s my solution - get the hell out of DC and hold some hearings.
I love town halls, but we need to focus on people right now. Have folks come testify about how these cuts are affecting them.
Get local media there.
Make it real.
Well, it’s not it’s a press conference or something. Oh, wait…
That’s it? That’s what you’ve got?
Senator Mitch McConnell, too little too late. GFY.
Say what he says the way he says it. It’s that simple. Thanks, Brian.
I wish you were right, Sandi, but none of his craziness has affected those boards before
Literally have been telling this dude this for a very long time. Keep up, Chuck. Also: WTF are you going to do about it?
It’s this simple. Thanks @aoc.bsky.social
Did you tune out most of Inauguration Day? Waited a news cycle for the dust to settle on exec orders? I did. What crashed through was Musk’s Nazi salute — actually the most troubling image of the day. I’m new on Bluesky and can’t actually tell if the handful of posts I’ve written are even being seen
"Mrs. Betty Bowers is currently holding up a middle finger in Elon Musk's general direction, drawing comparisons to a vulgar gesture associated with scorn. But who really knows what she means?"
--The New York Times
Whatever your line is — red, in the sand, whatever — a Nazi salute is forever wrong. Heads up, eyes up — this guy means what he does. It’s full on now.
This is a photo of Allison Gill sitting with Capitol Police Officers in the front row at a January 6th Committee hearing. Officer Harry Dunn is in the foreground, then Officer Daniel Hodges, Officer Brian Sicknick's partner, Mike Fanone, and Allison Gill.
I'm with them.
Today marks 4 years since one of the darkest days in #American history. When Democracy was tested at a level not seen since the #CivilWar Four years later, our Democracy will prevail once again today as it did on that day. We will once again have a #PreacefulTranaferofPower ##NeverForgetJanuary6th 🙏
Kylie Kelce's new podcast has been #1 on Apple and Spotify for 10 straight days, knocking Joe Rogan from the top spot. She says her political views skew "aggressively left" and she doesn't care what Trump fans think of her. Here's a gift article: www.nytimes.com/2024/12/19/b...
