Great questions that I don’t have complete answers for, or wish I had better ones. The expediency of using averages is (unfortunately) appealing due to the mountain of competing tasks teachers have to manage. Removing grades is possible, but other asks need to be removed as well. #sunchat
This is spot on @gastoncindy.bsky.social; it often feels like the task is Herculean to maintain the balance between meeting ‘expectations’ while ensuring the magic is happening on our campus.
I began to rethink how we’ve historically practiced grading many years ago after reading a piece by Ken O’Connor; it demonstrated the dangers of using averages. Seems like it obscures the value of our paths to mastery. #UngradingChat #SkyEdu
