Yeah that absolutely makes sense after re-reading the laws. It was definitely an interesting scenario that highlighted some of the more nuanced aspects of rugby

Yeah, I mean ultimately that’s fair. I always struggle with reffing on intent, just because I always think it’s impossible to know.

But then again, Pearce is a very good ref with lots of experience, so if anyone’s gonna know, it would be him

Tbh I didn’t notice LBB get a touch on it, if he does then yeah that’s a fair call. Either way, ultimately Pearce sees it how he sees it, and with so little in it (for me) it’s a fair interpretation

I disagree slightly with this, the definition of forward in the laws is ‘towards the opposition dead ball line’ and the ball isn’t moving in that direction, despite travelling forward relative to the players

For rugby people out there, does anyone know where in the laws/guidelines it outlines that if a ball travels forwards, but leaves the hands backwards, then it’s play on?

The boks tend to prefer the 5-3 split against England, I think 3 from the last 4 games against them we’ve gone for 5-3

Maybe I'm naive in posting this, but I think that one thing that might make Rugby Bluesky less tedious than Rugby Twitter became – you don't *always* have to tell someone they're wrong.

This place doesn't reward engagement, there's no algorithm to benefit the reply guy. You're just being boring.

The prevalence of sports betting is generally horrifying. And I say this as someone who’s dream job is sports analysis (unfortunately the only real path as a relatively recent graduate is betting)

Now that the whiff of cordite has dispersed (© Le Grande GT) from the weekend's rugby, I've added a few more disreputable scoundrels to the starter list. As always, if you have any suggestions or if you have the bulletproof confidence to suggest your own inclusion, let me know go.bsky.app/SaLiruy
