Discovering Prince, Ten Years Later - Anil Dash A blog about making culture. Since 1999.

Tomorrow marks 10 years since Prince passed. For the first time, I gathered nearly two decadesq of my writing, podcasts, talks & more into one curated resource, including playlists, rarities, a review of every video he ever made, and collaborations I did with his estate. anildash.com/2026/04/20/p...

I have no idea what the actual truth is but it makes me feel totally detached from reality that we basically know nothing about Stephen Paddock and seemingly have just culturally memory holed the worst mass shooting in American history

i really like tony thurmond and it pains me to say this but his campaign doesn't have the juice, he's gotta do the thing

same with butch ware and ramsey robinson unfortunately. the greens and P&F party don’t have serious enough grassroots canvassing game. they need to build power the way WFP does

he really is. ramsey and butch ware don’t stand a chance unfortunately and Xavier Becerra and Katie Porter don’t support CA Single Payer and the CA Billionaire Tax unlike Tom. imo it should be a progressive nonstarter if you don’t support both

need to bump this in the case anyone still think current day Katie Porter is still the more progressive Katie Porter from 6 years ago

idk what happened either, it’s like covid turned her full pro-lobbyist neoliberal

The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.”

Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy.

“I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.

We watched BlackBerry last night and the Aaron Sorkin Steve Jobs movie tonight and the latter was way too overwritten, almost like it should have been a stage play

Pirates of Silicon Valley (the TV movie with Noah Wyle) caught the energy of that era so much better

there’s too many Steve Jobs movies but i want to see a Matt Johnson directed one where he also plays Woz

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."

Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
