The reaction of Dr Kelsey Young at the Science Desk was one of the best things in the feed but I'd also like to acknowledge the dude in the lower left corner of the control room view doing his own little dance of joy during Jeremy Hansen's discussion of his corona observations. #Artemis

This is the face of a lunar scientist who has just been told that the #Artemis II crew saw SEVERAL impact flashes (the flashes when meteors hit the lunar surface) in real time 😃 🌓💥

This is:

1. Deeply moving.

2. The first time I've ever seen a real-life astronaut be anything other than serious or happy in space. Obviously they have been (they're human), but folks on earth have only ever seen this in movies or on TV.

Imagine watching your tears of grief float around you.

Someone asks me why American fandom doesn't have more doujinshi. I light up a cigarette, then stare into the middle distance as black and white photos of Anne Rice start running through my mind. The saxophone music starts increasing in volume, but it is silent.

Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

From Clickhole's "Incredible! We Asked These Astronauts What It’s Like To Be In Space," Barry Wilmore: You never know true beauty until you see Earth from space, or true terror until you hear someone knocking on the space station door from outside. You look through the porthole and see an astronaut, but all your crew is inside and accounted for. You use the comm to ask who it is and he says he’s Ramirez returning from a repair mission, but Ramirez is sitting right next to you in the command module and he’s just as confused as you are. When you tell the guy this over the radio he starts banging on the door louder and harder, begging you to let him in, saying he’s the real Ramirez. Meanwhile, the Ramirez inside with you is pleading to keep the airlock shut. It really puts life on Earth into perspective.

Cheezburger via important cat pics: “For 16 years, she knew not to get on the counter. Since turning 17, she’s decided to start making up her own rules.” Pic is of a sweet and lovely cat sat on the kitchen counter between the coffee maker and wooden spoon holder looking innocently upward without a care in the world.

People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.
