That I've known people in this day and age that struggle with walking, or had years of "mysterious chronic illness" for years thanks to lyme disease, is just.
Give us this vaccine. So many need it.
This will change and save lives.
@lokiofcontrol.bsky.social makes little ornaments that are mini watercolors on wood squares of various birds out of a "birds of minnesota" book, and it's very fun during art events to see both older folks go ooo, and also the twenty somethings go "ohhhhh, okay I need three"
Hell, while I'm annoyed I'm getting emails from the white house even when I know I had that off during a recent..."pls don't use nukes" message written more in the right's style?
I won't lie. Sending out an email of "hey here's what we did this week" is genuinely good comms most of the time.
Oh yeah, don't worry, I know why she lost and I'm sure I'll make a thing pointing that out. This was just a particular point I was feeling yesterday.
And yeah, the communications problem and not being willing to learn how other "factions" so to speak within the left absorb info is SUCH a problem.
I mean that's far cooler than my assumption of, "how many of these scientists were getting waaaaaaaaaaaay too into genAI?"
This isn't a dig btw! While it can be overwhelming, there are also times, especially when playing with new graphics tools, I just want to put the new thing EVERYWHERE. So...Basically a very human reaction.
Plus some of these tools are way too complicated.
Now to be fair, part of the above mentioned design language is I think in part due to how older gen x and boomers weren't raised with computers the way we think of them now, so the tools they use tend to be simpler while still providing a "OH THAT'S COOL PUT IT EVERYWHERE"
I do also welcome examples to aid in figuring out design language, as mostly what I've got right now is, "Bold colors, gradients or plain background, overuse of stickers/stamps especially those of floral type"
I don't know why part of me has been taking on the communication in design challenge of trying to use formats commonly used by generations older than me to get across info not usually told in said formats...
But eh, at least it's a challenge that gives me an excuse to be obnoxious design wise.
A very basic image that has a blue to red gradient in the background, pale yellow 8 pointed stars bordering text, and the orange text itself says, "Overly online leftists cannot both be why Harris lost and also so insignificant their political wants are ignored."
I really need to create a library of flowers, and other clip art to really hit boomer whatsapp/facebook meme levels, but anyways, feel free to use this one wherever needed lol
My Superman tale
Hold on as I immediately share all this because fuck yeah.
That they worked with deaf people is another "Good, GOOD" element of it, because of the complexities of ASL and how one should learn from a deaf person if at all possible!
The artists who worked on this are chads! 💪

there's a feature about it on CB, they're also releasing a behind-the-scenes with how they filmed the reference for it
okay, the mouse might be on my shitlist, but this is so awesome

I haven't heard a single post about this anywhere--
disney's had their animators reanimate some of their recent iconic songs in ASL?? here's "we don't talk about bruno"??? this is amazing???

I am again asking people to pay attention to what has happened to our National Science Foundation and by extension thousands of researchers across the country.
The devastation is ongoing and worthy of continued outcry to officials and journalists. 🧪
Still darkly funny to me to watch a metro transit council member trying to explain to people, particularly non-white young women, they could text the number on the posters nearby if they felt unsafe
Uh-huh. Thanks for making anyone typing something on their phone a target while being so oblivious.
There's more but overall...If you've ridden once or twice for a youtube video, I might see how you might think its great. But if you have to regularly use it? Especially if you're regularly using it as someone who's disabled and/or non-white. Well. Explains the congestion problem, doesn't it?
(Leaning benches aren't benches, just a raised slope designed for those who are six feet tall to lean on while waiting for the bus. No back support, no actual rest for your feet. Just antihomeless architecture at work.)
One woman who had clearly never had to learn how to adjust their movements with how the light rail lurches and stops, insisted she actually liked the leaning "benches" so doesn't see my issue with them.
Which, btw, the folks who run metro transit? Many of them think shelters are good, having posters showing you can text the cops is a great idea to protect people from people with guns/the homeless/those with paranoia, aaaannnd most don't ride transit.
Well, unless you ride during rush hour or want to not have smoking. No way to really go "yeah, the middle car USED to be the smoking car but now you removed one of the cars, that society figuring shit out element is gone too." without causing the metro transit people to get more punitive about it.
Hell, going from Saint Paul to Minneapolis can take 45 minutes to an hour and twenty depending on where you're starting from.
If you live near the green line and somewhere you need to go is also near said greenline? Then the transit is...not great but better than good.
FOr those wondering what I mean?
Okay, so. If you need to get somewhere within the cities proper that's within three or so miles from you? The transit is okay. Could be better, but okay.
If you need to get to any of the surrounding suburbs? lol.
(Less snarkily, while some folks in the US will still need the ability to drive, I am still all for walkable cities and improved public transit. That the twin cities transit system is considered one of the best in the nation when it's still garbage is a genuine problem)
I'm just mildly disappointed there's nothing about making cars affordable and also making it easier for those who couldn't get drivers licenses as teens to get practice (not lessons, but practice).
Freedom to drive and you're not even increasing the number of drivers? Cowards.
Some excited arm wiggles at elements I caught, but also I got to be on the same page as roomie regarding some more obscure or less used characters in both cases! Which I consider fun.
MCU is just...At this point might as well read the comics. Doing homework there still seems cheaper than with MCU
