The contrast between Jesus—the Model Shepherd—and corrupt rulers is that the true shepherd doesn’t burst in by force & seize the sheep—that's what a robber does. The true shepherd approaches gently & knows his own sheep. And the sheep trust and follow him.

Feel like it should be a bigger story that Howard Lutnick's firm (run by his kids) created a financial product to buy up tariff refund claims at a major discount, and will now be cashing in on the higher costs passed onto consumers.
The Gate of the Sheepfold
A sermon for the fourth Sunday of Easter, April 26, 2026 St. John's Episcopal Church, New City, New York “The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.” Each year, the fourth Sunday of Easter’s Gospel reading is from the tenth chapter of John about Jesus…
This review of TOP GUN MAVERICK is probably the most read piece I've ever written, and in between my anger at the modern war machine I said Val Kilmer's appearance was an act of personal heroism www.criticsnotebook.com/2022/05/top-...
Need a corporate death penalty badly.
We don't know which Cabinet secretary will be forced to resign next, but we know it'll be either Brooke Rollins or Linda McMahon because they're the last two women left.
The things that "AI" does that are truly useful, could have been done without the chatbots, or the label "AI"--but that wouldn't have facilitated all the massive grabbing of capital for the AI related companies. /3
The purveyors of "AI" are intentionally seeking to undermine labor and pay for as many people as possible and increase corporate profits/CEO wealth. They push this stuff as if it is essential to solve problems, but it's just a fad among the wealthy & powerful. /2
To be a bit orthogonal to today's discourse: "AI" is a marketing scam that's built on top of some truly amazing work in machine learning. The chatbots appear to speak & understand English and that sucks people in, but they're just good at patterns. The purveyors of "AI" are intentionally /1
Does Global Tetrahedron also get ownership of that Twitter handle?
"jacksh*t of all trades"
In a nutshell. 😊
A major aspect of this is that EVERY candidate has to raise lots of money and the organizations that they’ve been convinced are the only way to do it have been trained that this is the formula. IT’S A RULE! Completely unimaginative and with no moral insight.
Not for nuthin’, but what people predict is a function of their wishes and intentions. He’s saying that eliminating workforce is his priority and he has no intention of doing anything to ameliorate its effects except to blame a historic force he can’t control.
“Everyone” also includes all the cynics who just assume that nobody is doing law and that the only approach that anyone takes to solving problems is thinly veiled self-interest. In other words, people who deep down believe that Trump and Steven Miller are right.
AND, in some cases eliminate long-standing institutions that just won't work any more.
Today is the 251st anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.
I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.
Remind you of anyone?

Amazing that in the national divorce the libs are getting the NFL, butter and cooking oil, being attracted to adult women, standup comedy, Bud Light, and now also Catholicism
So what's needed is a BIG BILL, and people who know their stuff should be working out proposals so the Democrats can hit the ground running in 2029 when they have the necessary trifecta. /3
Lots of things could/should be done for the Federal Courts, some to undermine the right wing rot, other things to make things more efficient. Going to 15 circuits & gerrymandering away the 5th circuit in the process, incentivising SCOTUS retirements, eliminating all outside income, etc. /2
I do think that "court packing" is not the most helpful framing of what needs to be done. Reorganization and reformation of the courts (which would involve changing the number of personnel designated as "Associate Justices of the Supreme Court") is more important. /1
Seems like the Strait of Hormuz is only open when the stock market is.
anyway, if this court is going to act as little more than a partisan legislature than it ought to be treated like one by the actual legislature
While true, various types of mental disorders are problematic all along, but take a sudden turn to the extreme—particularly notable in late stage chronic alcoholism.
New euphemism for "pure, unadulterated horseshit" just dropped
The nepo babies that run the New York Times are suspicious that some other children of the elite have not used their connections to line their own pockets and they think we should all be suspicious too.
Re: nostalgia for VHS tapes and other analog media, I saw someone say like "a VHS tape never sold my information to a nazi" and yes that's true! But the reason it's true is actually because Congress passed a law in 1988 specifically making it illegal for video stores to sell your rental history
The guy in the middle wants to get kicked in the head by an annoyed cow.
Have you ever seen Kash Patel try to shoot a basketball?
I doubt he could even make one unopposed layup out of four.
Likely, but still unlikely to meet the threshold for removal, either under 25th amendment or impeachment. It might well take the political energy and initiative from the administration, which would be good.
