however him being a hardhead and distrustful of others and their intentions, as well as his rude personality is noticed and isolates him even more. Any normal person would’ve given up befriending him, (and be justified to do so) but it took a very specific person to befriend rocket.

this is shown especially clearly in his teenage years, he’s not going to get caught with his guard down again to prevent whatever happened before. the blatant distrust ties into the whole hardheaded-ness bc most of his life was comprised of violence, he had to be a hardhead to survive

from the enemy in order to prevent damage to yourself and be mose effective.
Rocket, like his gear, is very complex, with an intense history of violence and survival he got accustomed to. It reflects on his current self because he distances himself from others likely as a means of self protection

they are heavily associated with war/violence. After all, because of the collateral damage you don’t use them for much else. they’re very complex and nuanced, especially on the inside , and you need training to properly handle one. additonally rockets are a ranged weapon. you have to get far away

rocket has anger issues, is violent(?) and comes from a violent past where he probably derives trauma from. Additionally, the wiki states him as “clingy, hyperactive, bit of a hardhead”
rockets are explosive, and deal a shit ton of collateral damage. Additonally, when you think of rockets,

makes him constantly vulnerable and exposed to people who want to take advantage of him.
also, he DOES take the most simple and straightforward path to his goals (I.e trying to find med by asking others)
even if they’re not the safest

and requires no background training to understand how to use. additionally, swords sword is SPECIFICALLY double edged, which I feel like ties in really nicely to how his naivety and above average trust in others (lack of suspicion in general) allows him to bring out the best in some people but also

swords are sturdy, it takes a lot of force to break one, and when you get one, if you take care of it it’s gonna stay with you for a looonng time. Additionally, swords are relatively straightforward; not only is it one of the quickest ways to kill someone (in medieval times) it’s very simple to use

Sword is known to be loyal, but he’s also very naive and too trusting in others. He’s a simple innocent guy with not much complexity or trauma.
