Critiquing modern Star Wars by calling the PREQUELS of all things too narrow is insane to me. They’re hated BECAUSE they were so different to what came before. The shows and games have also done lots to expand the series it’s literally just the sequel trilogy that rehashed the status quo from the OT

The structure of this saga could use some work sure, but I do think the “new characters and then doing nothing with them” argument is flawed since these two new avengers movies are where they’re all gonna show up again, and multiple new characters from Phase 4 onward have been in more than 1 project

I do think Kang’s story will be wrapped up in Doomsday…

Unfortunately I think he will be unceremoniously killed off in his entirety by Doom.

Who knows tho, Doom might be awesome. He’s had a little bit of foreshadowing, like with Kang warning Scott about “something coming” in Quantumania. Let’s see

Tbf Phases 4 and 5 were mostly about setting up all these new characters, while also giving continuations and endings to other characters stories from the infinity saga. It was simply juggling too much, and the situation with the Kang actor as well as Covid likely didn’t help things

Yeah, I’d definitely argue that DC and Marvel, being the two longest running, most prolific comic entities in all of America definitely contribute the majority of American comic releases.

I absolutely do. They reset all the time. There is very little continuity. Different runs, different authors, not just one continuous story.

Don’t even get me started on the retcons WITHIN runs…

That’s a personal preference thing for sure, but that’s still not the argument. The story has a linear structure, which is not something most American comics have.

Z is not the beginning, if you chose not to read or watch from the beginning that’s your choice. But the progression is simple and linear because it’s all 1 continuous story.

The beginning

Having a hundred different “takes” and continuities is a bad thing. There’s no consistent world or characters. It’s the worst thing about the big American comics. Obviously there are exceptions like Invincible for example, but Marvel and DC are super guilty of it and it’s why I stopped reading.

Episode 1

Because Doomsday is a play on both an apocalyptic event, and the name of the villain “Dr Doom”

No idea why the name of the previous ensemble Avengers movie would be a relevant factor in this decision.
