This has to become a classic headline.
Vance has really got that global magic touch. Shown in diff ways with:
-Booed out of visiting anywhere in Greenland except US military base
-Pope Francis, RIP
-Pope Leo, declines his invite to visit DC
-Orban
-Iran "deal"
What a guy.
Not everything is vibes and credentials. Some of it is… you know… actually knowing stuff.
And historically, the best way to systematically teach large numbers of people stuff is... wait for it... SCHOOLS!

It bears saying: We need to be skeptics when DOJ lets word get out that it’s conducting a criminal investigation, especially when the suspect is on Trump’s list of enemies.

Just a reminder: things aren't horrible because they're war crimes; they're war crimes because they're horrible.
Sometimes pundits get stuck on the details of whether an action would be a war crime by the legal definition. That's not the point.
🤔
Just remember: from the mouth of a liar, even the truth can become a lie.
So, thing that is apparently better understood inside academia than outside of it:
International students pay sticker price. Most domestic students do not. International students are subsidizing the education costs for domestic students, as per student governmental funding drops.
Given Trump’s Easter threats to carry out new war crimes in Iran, we should think one or two steps ahead about a coup attempt connected to the war. And then deter it. (1/17)
Trump Slashed Science Funding. Now the U.S. Could Face a Costly Brain Drain. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/04/b...
And this ignores the hidden inflation of deteriorating quality. You may pay the same, but you get less.
For organization scholars: Trump expects to make every decision he wants to make; at the same time, he is relentlessly fickle. In any sort of accountable organization, this is a disaster. People don't know what they are to do, unless they're constantly checking with the leader's latest impulses.
So many law review articles and he just tweeted it out
Because, you know, we might have to start using machine guns to shoot frustrated people standing in lines.
When you're running on promises rather than results, just keep promising more.
Another excellent read here for those who teach #sociological theory or are interested in simplifying how certain perspectives work
It may be dawning on a few Republican politicians that they are destroying the very system under which they were elected. Some (Lindsey Graham) will sacrifice any principles to continue being a senator. What they are in fact doing is destroying the Senate itself, so being a senator won't matter.
I wonder when people who are supporting Trump will realize that he isn't supporting them; he's supporting his own whims. R politicians e.g., think they are gaming the system, but what they are really doing is destroying the system under which they were elected. Oligarchs and media, the same.
Should students in college remake themselves to fit the anticipated workplace? Or should they make themselves to be who they want to be, and then try to find a place in work?
"Over the last few years, American tech oligarchs have become the greatest argument against their own existence.
The sheer scale of their erratic behavior and political interference proves that extreme wealth concentration is a structural threat to society."

Oh no! I didn't know he was sick. He was such a wonderful guy. I first met him when he taught the statistics course for grad students at Yale, which he did beautifully. He was such a smart, nice, helpful sort of man in so many ways, over many years. I'm truly sorry for your loss of a good friend.
The is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled.
A truly extraordinary moment.
We aren't on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.
Act like it.
Just so we're all clear, this is a war crime and would be punishable by life or death under U.S. law.
Wait, what? "Our goal is to make sure, but we're not going to do it."
WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine are monitoring the U.S. operation in Iran from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where Trump is currently located, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Jesus Christ they're running the war from Mar-a-Lago

When I was a little girl, I could not wear pants to elementary school or church. And my mom could not get her own credit card.
I am not that old
Far too many administrators think choice is a bad word that exists only to please faculty & don't understand the vital role of student agency & interest in learning.
What he says is true, of course. But somehow it sounds like he's hoping we could just stop raising children. "Wouldn't that be great", etc.
