Yes, there's definitely ways to nuance it, like all the 5e lair actions etc.
But the benefit of this approach is how simple it is. Especially if you're a rubbish GM who can't multi-task or make tactical decisions, like me ๐

There's a simple bit of #ttrpg design genius that I want to share. It's applicable to lots of games and is a simple tweak that will make boss combats more exciting.
In Spectaculars, villains get 1 action per PC.
That's it. No more do you need crowds of minions. One dragon can eat them all.
Wish I could make it, but I can't because I live miles away and I have kids and also I hate social situations but also I love karaoke and the idea of other louts hogging my limelight is untenable anyway love you miss you toddles!

When we were preparing for our first born, we had an exhaustive test that included:

- The Judge test (does their name work if you put His/Her Lord Justice... before it)
- Forename plus surname must be 3 or more syllables

That's magic. I'm especially loving the people trying to get around the rules by using Pryncess and Kyng

That's not really HiDeHi then tho, is it? Murder wasn't a common feature of the series!
I think I've got the DVD somewhere
No idea. But Pitch Perfect generally is basically martial arts movies, but with singing
I came up with that idea when I was 15 or 16 and it hasn't progressed in 35 years
I've still got a boardgame idea. You each have an army trying to find the Krool heart. You flip over a hex tile and shit happens. Army is high attack, low stealth. If army is damaged, it becomes a company. If your company is damaged, it becomes an individual unit (low attack, great stealth).
They never do...

There is no way any Watford team will be that consistent
That is pure Pratchett!
(in which case, maybe have a look at Questworlds. It's UK written by the wonderful @icooper.bsky.social and it's got multiple ideas that touch on things you've talked about recently, including no Stats and both simple and complex resolution mechanics - and it's generic but full of examples)
Hardy. His name was Hardy. That is all.
I would really really like to, but as the same month of Longcon I think I would be over-using my limited brownie point store!
