One thing I'm seeing proposed more and more as a prophylaxis against another Trump is to ban felons from holding public office.
And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I *hate* that plan.

At least Dems got a ceremonial vote on the ACA subsidies in the senate so Susan Collins can vote against her party on that knowing it won’t pass but she’ll be able to run on another vote that allows her to pretend to be a moderate. The deal is an in-kind contribution to Collins.
Remember 25 years ago when a photo was taken of a fed pointing a gun at a crying refugee child and the image was so shameful it dominated the news cycle for a year
This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.
We need new leaders in the Senate.

All of these supposed failures by Democrats should more rightly be attributed to the remarkable success of right wing propagandists. They have gotten very good at what they do, and the Dems need to catch up and fight fire with fire in the narrative wars.
