One thing I'm seeing proposed more and more as a prophylaxis against another Trump is to ban felons from holding public office.

And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I *hate* that plan.

Here's why.

I have a christian friend who hates the government in India for their hindutva agenda, but support Trump in the US for "defending christian faith against LGBTQs and leftists" 🤦.

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

WATCH — @senpeterwelch walks through a no-bid $143,000,000 contract that went to @KristiNoem’s spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin’s husband’s company that had just been formed.

She should be impeached for this outrageous scandal alone.

Yet it’s barely a blip in this corrupt regime.

What I Saw at a Maternity Ward in Kenya After the U.S. Cut Off Food and Foreign Aid Photographs tell a story of two mothers determined to help their babies gain enough weight to leave the hospital — only to face little to no food again.

Expectant mothers were left so hungry after the U.S. cut foreign food aid that one woman ate clay and charcoal.

Her baby struggled to gain weight after being born prematurely.

Some photos of Haitians running in the streets. There's smoke in the background. It looks like political disorder.

A Haitian man stands next to a wall with some barbed wire behind him. The original Magnum caption said the man felt Haiti was a prison and he dreamed of making it to the United States. He wanted to be a rapper.

A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

Somewhere along the way, being wrong about facts was reclassified as "having an opinion," and knowing facts was stigmatized as "having bias." It's a big part of why we're in hell now.

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

AOC: "It is unconscionable that what we are debating right now is legislation that will give 8 senators over $1 million a piece & we're robbing people of their food assistance & healthcare to pay for it. How can we vote to enrich ourselves by stealing from the American people?"

At least Dems got a ceremonial vote on the ACA subsidies in the senate so Susan Collins can vote against her party on that knowing it won’t pass but she’ll be able to run on another vote that allows her to pretend to be a moderate. The deal is an in-kind contribution to Collins.

Remember 25 years ago when a photo was taken of a fed pointing a gun at a crying refugee child and the image was so shameful it dominated the news cycle for a year

This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

The people yearn for (democratic) socialism (this one will make you cry)

All of these supposed failures by Democrats should more rightly be attributed to the remarkable success of right wing propagandists. They have gotten very good at what they do, and the Dems need to catch up and fight fire with fire in the narrative wars.

Granted we’re just over here in Tennessee, but it kinda seems like greedy bigots threatening to self-deport from NYC if he wins is more of a reason to vote for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social than against him?

When Zohran wins and NYC doesn’t collapse please remember how hard they leaned into the greedy, racist fearmongering so you can ignore it next time too

Column | ChatGPT just came out with its own web browser. Use it with caution. OpenAI’s Atlas promises AI-powered convenience. The price? Letting ChatGPT track and store “memories” of what you do online.

ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser doesn’t just see what you read — it remembers it.

@eff.org’s Lena Cohen showed me it even logged “memories” of her looking for *abortion care* and her doctor’s name. Out-surveils even Chrome.

If you keep lowering your standards to “win” against the other side, eventually you’ll just be on the other side
