Democracy is not a thing we have, it's a thing we do
Trump has destroyed federal guardrails meant to ensure secure and fair elections.
Some fear his actions are aimed at making sure the upcoming midterms go his way.
The TL;DR is that recently-leaked internal memos from 2016 reveal that John Roberts and the court's conservatives invented the shadow docket because of nakedly ideological opposition to Obama's Clean Power Plan.
A graphic promoting the preorder campaign for AMERICAN RAMBLER: Walking the Trail of Johnny Appleseed by Isaac Fitzgerald. It reads, "Preorder AMERICAN RAMBLER by Isaac Fitzgerald with Blue Willow to receive a set of numbered prints created by Steven Weinberg, and signed by both Steven and Isaac, along with your copy of the book. Want your book signed and personalized? We can make that happen, too!" The book cover is situated beneath the text, next to images of the two prints, one of which features an apple tree, and the second of which features six apples.
Preorder campaign! 🍎

I wonder if some leftists and liberals will pay attention to this. I've seen folks overly praise Rightwing organizing as if it is not subject to the same social forces and interpersonal dynamics as Left organizing. In fact it is: we often just don't have the same visibility into their groups.
The working class has no borders, and neither does our solidarity! The fight for migrant justice is the fight of labor. This May Day, stand with us and commit to No Work, No School, No Shopping! Sign the pledge now: dsausa.us/mayday
Hey fyi way too many, even leftists who should know better, effusively praising the papacy is making it way, way more difficult to organize against this.
This trans healthcare ban is literally going to cost trans people's lives but yeah, woke pope made a statement or whatever.
NEW: 14 months after @wired.com's @telliotter.bsky.social first revealed the young technologists of DOGE, the impacts of this "chaotic" Musk-inspired effort continue to reverberate across the US government. Tori reports: www.wired.com/story/where-...

I too have lost track of the number of times an able bodied person had told me "If I were you, I'd kill myself"
People like to imagine it's a compliment. It isn't.
Yeah, all this. 🧵
And I should have added: unlearning your ableism is important, but much more important is to support the policies and laws that give disabled people equal access to the world EVEN IF you don’t understand our accommodations or why we need them
And it's a belief carried into older age, when there's even less social support for changing it.
You will dramatically improve the rest of your own life if you work to unlearn your ableism now.
I can't tell you the number of times I've heard abled people say, "I'd rather die than live that way."
But how do you know?! You don't know at all, you just imagine that being disabled is the worst possible life outcome.
This is a cultural belief, not an instinct or a rational judgment.
I'm so sick of it. In ostensibly "progressive" countries, people are being euthanized for autism or records are not even being kept (apnews.com/article/euth...). We would rather commit eugenics than create a society where disabled people can live.
Aging is so often a process of becoming disabled. Disabilities need support, not necessarily eradication. But older adults and younger disabled people are told we don't need accommodations, we need to accomodate ourselves to less-full lives. It's backwards.
Tech bros want you to believe the secret to life extension is biohacking or similar when the actual "secret" is accommodations and support for disability
“The system did not simply fall apart because it was attacked from outside. It fell because people inside it, seeing it clearly, chose to say so.”
Something I learned while traveling in several eastern European countries is how crucial it is that we remember democracy is not a system but a collection of actions
1. In a massive defeat of anti-trans politics, Viktor Orbán, one of the most autocratic and anti-LGBTQ+ figures in Europe, has fallen to Péter Magyar.
This comes after JD Vance traveled to Hungary to campaign for Orbán and decry trans people in a speech.

Thing is, when you say porn objectifies, all that sounds like to me is that you see porn performers as objects.
If you actually watched our performances, you'd see we are individuals, with individual skills, performing styles, and aesthetics
Seriously - If the USPS were privatized today, you'd have to sign an EULA every time you send a letter, and it'd include a provision that anything you mail can be opened and used to train someone's A.I. model.
Please think about how crucial the post office is at a time when all other forms of communication are overwhelmingly surveilled and controlled by private companies. We need the usps. In more than one way, our democracy depends on it.
