You can actually see the moment Ed Miliband thinks, what's the point burning through whatever political credibility I've got left energetically defending a man who's going to be gone in a matter of weeks.

The original sin of Starmerism is what will now destroy it.

The Labour Party was taken over by a cynical, dishonest faction with no moral compass.

How they operated in the party is how they operated in government.

Starmer was just their convenient frontman.

Keir Starmer is a man without any integrity.

He throws other people under buses for no other reason than to save his own skin.

He's not fit to be prime minister - and those who spent years presenting him as a decent man need to have a hard look at themselves.

If nothing else, the decision to sack Robbins, when he didn't need to, must rank as one of the most absurd acts of political self-harm any prime minister has yet committed. All of this eminently foreseeable.

OK, but why?

I can’t tell if you’re backing Starmer or not.

I am confused. So if Starmer resigns because he did (or didn’t do) something that means that it is absolutely correct that he resigns you won’t vote Labour? Because you’ll think that the Labour Party drove him out and you’re a Starmer fan?

Yesterday I was suspended from the Commons and escorted off the parliamentary estate for calling the Prime Minister a barefaced liar.

I would do it again.

Every person in this country knows that Keir Starmer is exactly that.

I will always speak truth to power.

Well done Zarah! 👏

Even if he should resign?

An odd take.

That’s probably true but whoever is the next leader/PM (soon please!) will get battered by the media anyway.

I’d be inclined to give Rayner a go, it could be a disaster but she could also be a breath of fresh air. I like Miliband, think he’s a very decent guy and has strong, progressive views. I am sick of Starmer, even without the recent baggage and the awful policies he’s just empty and will lose the GE.

I’d happily take either.

Starmer seems to have sparked a second crisis, a rift between the civil service and Ministers. He came into office promising they would act as 'one team' but when you have two former Cabinet Secretaries speaking out you have a problem.. 🧵

I knew that Mandelson failed security vetting. So why didn’t Keir Starmer? Political editor David Maddox looks back on The Independent’s exclusive in September last year and how he informed Downing Street of Mandelson’s vetting failure seven months before the prime minister ...

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

It seems a journalist for the Independent raised the issue of Mandelson's failed security vetting with the Prime Minister's Office back in September. Yet we are asked to believe Starmer didn't know! So even his own staff are withholding information from him

I didn’t say that he did, I am saying that he was close with someone who did and created a world where it was happening. Being in that world, it must have been difficult to not have a clue.

I get that and Johnson’s acts were much, much worse but Starmer just hasn’t and isn’t acting like the leader we, as Labour supporters and the country, deserve.

Maybe not but he was there and he was in Epstein’s life. Knowing and not doing anything about it is nearly as bad.

I have signed a letter to the Foreign Secretary about the escalation of deadly Israeli settler violence in the West Bank and Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes.

The letter urges the government to make diplomatic interventions and impose sanctions on Israeli settlements.

The problem with Starmer's argument (well one of them) is that it depends on an assertion that he wouldn't have appointment Mandelson if he'd known he'd failed vetting.

But he appointed him before vetting was complete.
